Angry North Korea makes startling Threat

NK is just trying to save face following their embarrassing missile test.

Except that they did torpedo a S. Korean naval vessel two years ago, killing almost 50. And they did shell a S. Korean island.

And they are going to better perfect their more potent weapons capabilities.

Just one more foreign policy failure by Obama. Maybe instead of a "beer summit" he should propose a "sake summit" or whatever it is the fat puke drinks.

And how is Obama's policy with North Korea different than Bush's?

I forgot, but another thing that happened since 3 years ago is that the US Secretary of Defence has publically stated that the current regime would wait for UN approval before actually exercising it's sovereignty or using military force in the future. So if the UN says no, possible since China would have to give permission, then according to Panetta and Obama, the US won't act, that is unless they go against their own stance of asking and receiving permission first.

As Americans we've been brainwashed for over 5 decades now into thinking NK is the big bad boogyman of the world.
It's always the fallback, evil empire that we must fear and hate.

It's always fashionable to hate the NKians.

And how many Americans did a handful of "towel heads" kill with little more than box cutters?

What people need to realize is that NK dedicates more to buying weapons than they do to feeding their citizens. Their rocket dreams are just that. Their military readiness is unquestionable. This is a country that is training for war 24/7. They're arming themselves constantly with toys from China and Russia. When they're not doing that, they're having war games. Calling their threats anything other than credible because of a few failed displays of technological advancement is lunacy.

We would have nothing to fear, at least nuke wise, if Clinton hadn't given them the store.

Unfortunately, NK has artillery 32 miles away from Seoul, the largest population center, and could do a lot of damage. The South Korean army is pretty effective and could retaliate but many would die in the process.

The US has a lot of soldiers garrisoned in the Seoul area and many would be killed in such an attack. I think the US would participate in retaliatory bombing of North Korea and the Chinese must be having nightmares over this.

As for big talk, NK is a lot like he Arab states. Mother Of All Bulli****.

Then the US would be in direct violation of it's treaties with South Korea.

I understand that, you understand that, but it doesn't do either of us any good if Panetta and Obama don't understand that. They are the ones that said the US would seek international approval before employing military force, not me.

North Korea issues unusually specific threat | The Envoy - Yahoo! News

Should we be worried?

If North and South Korea go to war, and say America joins the fight, do you think China would join North Korea's side?

Well, China will never allow Korea to be unified, unless the new Korean state will be in it's sphere of influence rather than the U.S.'

But I don't even think China will allow North Korea to go that far. Instead, I think China may go to war with North Korea before anyone else can and seize control directly.

At least that's what I would do if I was in the PRC.

maybe this message was supposed to be released before their rocket test.

Earlier this month, North Korea was unsuccessful in a long-range missile launch, prompting worries that North Korea may conduct another nuclear test. South Korean officials say new satellite images show that North Korea has been digging a tunnel in what appears to be preparation for a third atomic test.

Sigh... 'missile launch' aka a scientific satellite did not make it into orbit.
It became a missile launch after the fact and the media and half the planet doesn't seem to remember.
Proper intel verifying whether or not it was a satellite or missile test will never be released.
The rocket is an adapted long range missile meant to go into orbit.

As an American it is hard for me to climb into the brains of a North Korean and see how they think.
Is this not similar to Germany who used the Jews as a scapegoat for their economic woes? North Korea who continually struggles to feed their own blame the problems on South Korea and others.
In the bleakness of North Korea the only thing the citizens have to be proud of is their military.

I am decidedly unstartled.

It's funny... the US military is the most functional part of the united states as a whole...

well heck... im proud of it... :)

I'm trying to fathom what weapon of swift and powerful magnitude they've managed to craft and harness - when they can't seem to do much of anything right.

They can't even feed their own people without help, all of their rockets explode within minutes of launch. Too bad the last one didn't fall back on top of lil moon face.

ehh... the us spends about 50x to encircle north korea than north korea spends to deter the US.
Takes alot of money to free people from themselves, they should know Korea belongs to the US...

The city of Seoul, population 11 million, is 32 miles from the DMZ and within range of artillery fire. They might then get their asses kicked but a few million normal, educated, working, tax paying, functioning humans will be dead. No atomics required.

NK is the single craziest country in the world. They make Iran look downright friendly by comparison. Worse, their numbed one buddies are the Chinese, who aren't a minor military power. They manufacture their own weaponry, just as we do. Let's just hope that NK is just amusing themselves by throwing sabres high in the air.

Nk isn't that bad, they have tourism and things, they also started 90+ consumer product brands that are completely modern, also have a modern car brand, etc... (yes, a proper car). Thank god theyre not in the news or I'd feel like killing them less.

I can't find anything about a North Korean car industry. Can you help me out here? I lived in Korea for 8 years. Its where I started my first real business, exporting handbags (circa 1969). So, I kind of keep track of SK but I'd like to know more about NK. Thanks!

NK has a domestic car brand co-op with Hyundai... and near 100 new consumer brands...
articles arent easy to find... you'd have to read news from a foreign country... like anywhere outside of the us...

Wow. Hyundai. When I lived there they had ONE model, a Ford Cortina assembled in Korea. 30 day warranty. $5,000.00 CASH. You went to their corporate office and they counted your cash out, took you to the basement and you picked out your white, black or tan car. No options.

I'm surprised they are in NK so obviously theres a lot more cooperation than I've been aware of...

Yeah... it's troublesome to get the south koreans to cooperate because everytime they do, they want to ride a shiny 10 million dollar train with south korean and us flags shooting propaganda and fireworks out of cannons in hope that smearing materialism in their faces will make them want to come under a us protectorate to buffer against china more.

but yeah i figure thats why north koreans want to stab our babies... n stuff...
