North Korea's military vowed a new and unusually specific threat to its neighbors, saying it would reduce South Korea "to ashes" in less than four minutes.

The statement, released Monday when programming was interrupted on North Korea's state TV by a special report, comes amid rising tensions on the Korean peninsula.

Should we be worried?

If North and South Korea go to war, and say America joins the fight, do you think China would join North Korea's side?

um...what exactly is soo "startling" about this bull**** threat?

NK has been talking **** for decades. That's what they do.

They talk ****, and the West makes them an offer.

My pulse doesn't go up one single beat, each and every time NK threatens to turn SK into ashes.

Meanwhile, I know some folks who get all scared and nutty, and worry that WW3 is about to begin, whenever NK makes a bull**** threat.

if there is one country I am NOT worried about starting a real war, its NK.

Iirc, new management is in North Korea. There very well may be an attack by NK this time.

more BS saber rattling from NK.

it can be answered with one question : would NK attacking SK benefit China's global business / growth negatively or positively?

i would argue that it would be significantly deleterious. therefore, China will not allow it.

that particular misbehaving attack dog is China's problem.

new management? seriously Wake?

you really think this guy will be any different than his dad, or his granddad?

come on man.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. WW3 ain't gonna start anytime soon, especially over Korea.

So unless we think WW3 is going to kick off we should ignore the threats of an unstable, armed army?

You seem to think there won't be any attack. I'm saying there might.

I'll put it as simply as I can: there is no logical, rational, nor intelligent reason to more fear an attack by NK upon SK now....then there was a month, 6 months...or 6 years ago.

nothing has changed. NOTHING.

Ignore? Never. However, on the flip side, this isn't anything to get in a panic about. This is the same sabre rattling they do.

Our military will do what it always has with North Korea, watch and be ready.

I'm trying to fathom what weapon of swift and powerful magnitude they've managed to craft and harness - when they can't seem to do much of anything right.

That's your view and I can respect that. Imo, though, I think we should keep an eye out for any new developments. That doesn't mean we should panic; just, be a bit more aware of the situation. Just because nothing has appeared to change does not in itself mean nothing will happen.

that's fine.

I see no reason to treat or view NK today any differently than we did 3 years ago.

Sounds like a sick game of "Name That Tune" for fat little punk dictators.

"I can destroy that country in 4 minutes !"

Someone needs to bitch-slap that little pudgy puke.

I don't know, really. Maybe the son won't want to sit on his butt and do nothing like his father and grandfather. He may follow in their footsteps, or he might, finally, want some action. He might want to grab at glory, unlike his father.

The situation is so complex it's near impossible to imagine what's going on in the young dictator's head.

LOL @ THAT.. that is if their rocket doesnt blow up over Pyongyang lol they are so back in the 30s Military wise

no, its very simple: meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Are you sure he'll be as passive as his father?

If you're certain I'd bet our government would like to get their hands on that intel.

PASSIVE????

please, elaborate.

Maybe not Passive, but they all lack intelligence. The mere fact, that they display this kind of behavior is humorous to me. They can't even launch a rocket, much less reduce a city to ashes. They might launch a missle, and blow up their own city because they are treading water, and about to drown.

Yeah, thus far, the credibility North Korea's threats amount to the credibility of a barking Chihuahua.

I don't believe we have much to worry about here. That is unless NK is attempting to turn SK to ashes by launching a rocket over the top of SK in hopes that it does the exact same thing as the last one and explodes before it gets too far over SK. At some point they have got to figure it out that they are just plain not very good engineers when it comes to Rocket Science.

Except that they did torpedo a S. Korean naval vessel two years ago, killing almost 50. And they did shell a S. Korean island.

And they are going to better perfect their more potent weapons capabilities.

Just one more foreign policy failure by Obama. Maybe instead of a "beer summit" he should propose a "sake summit" or whatever it is the fat puke drinks.

Just more sabre rattling for now.

What has changed from 3 years ago, as someone asked, lets see, the US economy continues to be depressed and sluggish. The US is actually pulling out of Iraq and Afghanistan. The current regime in the US is taking a hard, anti-military stance and promising to butcher US military capabilities to pay for more and more socialisation.

It makes sense for the new guy in NK to sabre rattle and see what response he gets. I don't think he will attack this year. However, if the US shows weak resolve and BO is re-elected, then the probability of them attacking goes up tremendously for next year. By then, assuming BOs relection, the US will have much less military capability and will still have a weak, gutless socialist coward running the country.

If Romney is elected, with at least one chamber of congress on his side, then the US leader is less weak, more likely to stop the destruction of military capability and much, much more likely to back SK, up to and including the use of Nukes in retaliation for a Nuke strike from NK.

It's all one big massive shell game. NK has nothing. They make a lot of noise to distract from the fact that they have nothing.

Make everybody think they're just crazy enough to maybe do something and people will pay them some attention.

I say we ignore the hell out of them. Stop responding to their threats and pay more attention to defending our home shores.

NK is not our fvcking problem.

We lend credibility to them by reacting to their every fart.

They're peons.
