Biden: 'War on Women' is Real, Will Intensify

Are Democrats now at war with "Stay-at-home" moms? What about all those stay-at-home moms on welfare who vote Democrat? Do they realize they are now under attack? Who is going to save them in the war?

No, they're the hero's!!! It's only stay at home moms who have taken nothing from the government that are the scum of the earth.

and once again they didnt oppose that part of it. Keep ignoring facts to suit your overly biased and blinded opinions. Get back to me when you want to make your own opinion with all of the information rather than just going with what you were told to think.

Did they vote against it nearly unanimously? Thank you. Case closed.

Here's the thing: you are wrong. The part they didn't like is the part that is the guts of the bill. They opposed extending the statute of limitations. Other than that, you have a great point.

*snip* - wrong thread!

Huh? How does a private lawsuit against a private party, with the parties paying the court costs, add to the deficit? That's the lamest excuse yet.

Are courts of law not government entities, or did we somehow get private courts without anybody noticing? Who pays the salaries for these court employees?

As in, a party can be sanctioned for filing a frivolous lawsuit. As in, frivilous lawsuits can be dismissed very quickly via a motion to dismiss.

Let's get real here. The Act only provides a 180 day statute of limitations, which is pretty damned short by any standard. The reason the Act was needed is that the SC held that the 180 day period started to run when the EMPLOYER made the decision to discriminate. Now how in the **** is a woman supposed to know that? A woman could work for a company for 10 years and only then discover that she's been paid half what her male cooworkers are making. According to the SC she can go pound sand because her statute of limitations ran almost nine years prior. It's absurd and Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for opposing the law.

That is so figgin lame. When you take a job, are you "forced" to take it, to then wonder how much you are going to be paid in your first paycheck ? Your spin reflects all that is wrong with this discrimination crappola. Thank God SCOTUS had the sense to put a realistic time frame on the extent to which some second-rate employee can file some absurd "I was worth more than I agreed to be paid" lawsuit.

Typical liberal BS. Equal outcomes, not equal opportunity.

You think? Then why did Republicans vote almost unanimously against the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act? Why did only eight Republicans in Congress support it? :popcorn2:

the more important question is.... why don't you know the answer yourself?

did you not pay attention to the issue , but instead choose to buy into the Democrats political propaganda?

it's all good.. i'm sure quite a few people know why the GOP opposed the act... myself included.... but i'm completely comfortable leaving you to believe that Republicans are simply waging a war on women.

were the stupidity of such rhetoric/propaganda not so damn entertaining, i'd probably attempt to correct you.

Biden: 'War on Women' is Real, Will Intensify - Yahoo! News

Vice President Joe Biden said tonight that what he called a Republican-led effort to rollback the rights of women is "real" and will "intensify."
"I think the 'war on women' is real," Biden told MSNBC's "The Ed Show," deploying the politically-charged phrase for the first time on the national stage.
"And look, I'll tell you when it's going to intensify - the next president of the United States is going to get to name one, possibly two or more, members to the Supreme Court," he added.

It's just another diversion, political cover, which is necessary when you can't run on your record of accomplishment.

The federal courts are paid for in part by taxpayers and in part by litigants. I don't think that establishing a common sense statute of limitations is going to break the bank.

The purpose of the courts is to dispense justice. If the rules are such that justice isn't being done, I don't think we're getting our money's worth.

As it happens, I know the answer. The answer is that Republicans are more concerned about currying favor with corporations than they are about protecting womens' rights.

that's not the answer.. that's your perception.

I don't find your perception to be credible.

The Democratic party is waging a war on stupid women trying to frighten them into voting for Obama.

If that were true at all (and I doubt it) why would the democratic party not use the same weapon that the republicans have used again and again and again and again in the previous 2 presidential campaigns? The republicans are the world champions of fear-mongering to achieve electoral gain.

I'm still waiting for an alternative explanation that passes the laugh test.

Aren't you even a little embarrassed saying that a major political party is waging war on more than 50% of the electorate? If we ask you and Biden who else the Republicans are at war with it would probably be at least 75% of the population. Heck, thinking about why waste time with this campaign how about Republicans wage war on 99% of Americans.

If I were a Republican I be more than a little embarrassed about my leadership needlessly and stupidly pissing off so many important voting blocks.

Latest example is Mike Hoekstra who is trying to unseat D-Sen. Debbie Stabinow. Hoekstra explained that this law which helps women enforce their right to equal pay is just a "nuisance". Oh you pesky women and your silly desire to get equal pay for equal work! Don't you know you're better seen and not heard? What a nuisance!

would it be a bit more honest, to be discussing where you feel Romney who is the candidate has been shown to make statements such as the ones above?

This issue could really hurt Romney.

For those who want access to contraception and are pro-choice, they will vote for Obama.

For those who are pro-life, they may not be thrilled about voting for a flip-flopper like Romney. Where exactly does Romney stand on these issues today? Do the voters think he will feel the same way on these issues down the road, or will he flip-flop again?

Yes, Adam, I read that also. If it's not a "war on women" why do they just keep waging it? Oh well, those comments certainly aren't going to help any conservative campaigns. ;)

When I heard about this War on Women, I put my armor on and readied my bow and arrow, but... nothing. There's no war on women in this country.

Did Romney make the statements you and your buddy Mr. T allude to?

Not sure where you could find a statement from Romney that would impact a woman's right to contraception.

No, Wash, Romney did not belittle the Ledbetter law...it was Hoekstra. Romney did not even know what the Ledbetter law was, when asked about it, LOL.

That's one part of my point. Where does he stand on the issue?

Well I have to admit that I don't remember it either, doesn't mean I am at war with anyone!

Am I the only one who thinks, "ZOMG what about Obama's socialism?!?!?!" whenever someone brings up this "war on women" stuff?
