Politics Obama administration points to rise in GSA costs under Bush amid conference

Re: White House points finger at Bush administration for GSA debacle

Well I guess the far right finally feels it has found the Silver Bullet to kill the Great Demon President at last?

Lotsa luck with that as you are gonna need it.

This tune seems to summarize the national outrage about this story

Re: Politics Obama administration points to rise in GSA costs under Bush amid confere

Considering the President likely found out about this about the same time we did...I would say this is not only accepting responsibility, but addressing the problems:

" The head of the General Services Administration resigned Monday and two deputies were fired after an internal report revealed excessive spending at a conference.

GSA Administrator Martha Johnson opted to leave the agency after slightly more than two years on the job. Public Buildings Service chief Robert Peck and Stephen Leeds, an adviser to Johnson, were fired Monday, The Washington Post first reported.

Four employees involved in organizing an October conference to Las Vegas that cost more than $835,000 and included a clown and mind reader were put on administrative leave.

White House officials said they weren’t releasing any specific figures on the GSA inspector general’s report, which was expected to be posted in the near future."

I sometimes wonder if some people think Obama has superpowers and is somehow able to watch everything that happens in Government, control gas prices, stop the worldwide economic problems, Invent some new energy source, and tell the bad guys to stop bein' bad.

Re: White House points finger at Bush administration for GSA debacle

Sorry, but it's obvious that Republicans are trying to turn this into a political football. If your team wants to play partisan games, don't whine when the President responds in kind.

I am not a republican, and I am simply pointing out, the man who can do something about it, is whining about the man who can't. but hey in the world of the partisan hack, pointing out this fact makes me the partisan. :doh

"The Inspector General Office’s report last week about the 2010 General Services Administration conference outside of Las Vegas indicates the Obama administration knew about the trip since May 2010. The report was followed by a release of videos."

Re: White House points finger at Bush administration for GSA debacle

Actually -- according to the article in the OP -- the abuse started long before 2010: "the cost of the Western Regional Conference increased sharply under the Bush White House -- from $93,000 in 2004 to $323,855 in 2006 to $655,025 in 2008, then $840,616 in 2010...."

So the cost of the event increased almost 700% under Bush, and less than 30% under Obama. What's wrong with pionting that out?

The conference that has come under fire happened in 2010. Whats wrong with accepting fault rather than always diverting blame? Why cant Obama do that? Why are you so incapable of seeing any problems with him? You need to come to terms with things. Not everything that goes wrong is someone elses fault. This conference happened in 2010. Part of being a responsible leader would mean Obama needs to accept responsibility for it. Why is that so hard for you?

Isn't firing the director and many others who were involved, and saying that it's totally unacceptable, accepting fault? Should he have left it at that? Would that have been the end of it? Yeahright. » Darrell Issa Calls Hearing On GSA Las Vegas Spree

My problem is not with the fact that it happened. Or the fact that people were fired. Personally I think charges should be pressed against those involved but any action is something. My problem with Obama on this is he, like he does with everything negative, is he deflected the blame. He does not seem capable of accepting responsibility for anything.

Re: White House points finger at Bush administration for GSA debacle

Good point. Been a while since any politician, let alone the president, has accepted blame for anything. Wonder when people will stop accepting the BS and start holding politicians responsible regardless of party affiliation.

With the partisanship in this country? That is crazy talk. Just look at the people who participate in this board.

Because the left considered Bush secretive in his administration, and Obama was going to change all that and improve confidence with the American public. He didn't.

No freakin' wonder you are on ignore...you actually equate the "Obama Administration"...with the man?

Thank you for accidentally expressing the very ignorance I posted about, priceless.

If am on ignore, why do you keep running your mouth at me, telling me that you have me on ignore? it's an embarrassing display for you. You should reconsider your silly line of attacks.

Obama knew about this in 2010, he's blaming bush, he needs to move on, should I make it any simpler for you, kid?

Obama doesn't really affect gas prices, but as CiC, he does have say, and responsibility to oversea a FEDGOV agency like this, I mean, he thinks his predecessor did, so why do you disagree and think he doesn't?.... MIRITE? :lamo

Ok...I admit you are entertaining. Though eventually tiresome.

"OBAMA" likely had much more critical things to be informed about in 2010, and to actually think he was briefed on the conference is tantamout to stupidity...thus you end up on Ignore, as I find stupid people boring after the initial giggle.

So your intellectual contribution can be summed up thusly "yer a stupid head, I am going to pretend to put you back on ignore so I can respond again how I have you on ignore and call you a stupid head".....

I'd be happy to compare intellectual prowess and educational background with you anytime, chief. Have a wonderful day. :2wave:

oh, and to your silly retort, as POTUS, I would fire my campaign manager, and my GAO chief if I wasn't made aware of this very embarrassing situation. Or do you think POTUS shouldn't give a **** about fraud waste and abuse? My guess, is he should only care when he's not Obama.... :lamo

I think you are confused as to the function and the purpose of the ignore feature.

Perhaps....but I think not.

I never need to read your thoughts...yet, should I feel compelled I can.

And in doing so I gain entertainment, I see no negatives here. I have come to the understanding that your opinions tend to fall into a category I dismiss (ignorant), as in uninformed. I have therefore decided to use a function of the programming on this forum that allows me to note you have commented, but no longer be forced to actually suffer through digesting spoiled meat.

Yet, when I see you have commented and wish entertainment...I can simply "View Post"...and sometimes I decide to toy with you.

This white-African, Fool, Bobo, the Post Turtle, is incapable of taking responsibility for anything.

All is Bush's fault.

The race card. predictable.

Re: Politics Obama administration points to rise in GSA costs under Bush amid confere

Why is that?

Because you don't hate who he hates as much as he hates. Therefore you are irrational. lol

D00d I don't even know who the **** you are, if you don't want to read my posts and respond, don't. but following me around screeching "yer st00pid" and telling me how you have me on ignore, seems childish at best.

I could not agree more. The reason I used that term, "white-African" is because the MSM is using similar terms in Florida....white-Hispanic, and Oklahoma....white-Indian.

Besides that, The President has said he was black. As usual he is lying. He is one half Caucasian and one half African.

The media is acting like an asshole, Don't be like the media, brother, We are better than that.

I don't care what Obama calls himself.... I am 3/4 irish, 1/4 English... I identify with my irish heritage due to language and upbringing. Obama Identifies with his african roots because he grew up as for all intensive purposes a black man. His skin color, does not scream "white" to society. I see nothing wrong with Obama identifying with his African-american roots.

The administration also argued Friday night that the cost of the Western Regional Conference increased sharply under the Bush White House -- from $93,000 in 2004 to $323,855 in 2006 to $655,025 in 2008, then $840,616 in 2010, or just 28 percent under Obama.

The article says nothing about Obama blaming this on Bush. It accuses them of doing so, but then only points out that the Obama administration merely pointed out the past trends of this conference going up in price every year. You're behaving as if someone said "well it ain't our fault!" and noone from the Obama administration I have heard has said that. They have also fired the people responsible. When you find me quotes from actual Obama administration officials then I'll start caring about this faux outrage du jour.
