Politics Obama administration points to rise in GSA costs under Bush amid conference

Re: Politics Obama administration points to rise in GSA costs under Bush amid confere

Yes, the comedy of who watches the watcher. I never suggested and additional agency though. That is the last thing I want. Don't expand the government, contract.

Yes, government contracts! Those are definitely not prone to corruption!

Do you even bother to read my posts? To repeat, someone in Obama's administration knowing =/= Obama himself knowing. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. But you certainly haven't shown that he did.

One would think that he would dismiss this person, or his campaign manager at least, given the nature of issue this would cause his re-election campaign, but sure, you go on making excuses for him.....

Apparently you don't read your own posts, either. :doh

General Services Administrator Martha Johnson and Steven Leeds, senior counselor to the administrator, were told in May 2011 about the investigation of the conference. They resigned Monday.

Those are GSA folks, pay attention, this is getting trivial, your president didn't fire his staff that "failed" to notify him..... again (first time was in 2010)... Why I do find hysterical, is you blamed bush, but if we were to apply your own argument, how would he have known?

SO now, in order to not look like a hypocrite, you need to say "It was not bush's fault either"... on the count of three...

Re: Politics Obama administration points to rise in GSA costs under Bush amid confere

The irony of all this is that that is exactly what the GSA is supposed to do! And it's what they do every day. Apparently, like a lot of people, they are less vigilant when it comes to themselves.

But in any case, it's why it's a silly notion that we should start *another* agency to watch the agency that's watching all the other agencies. Then we can start an agency to watch the agency that's watching the other agencies, and on ad infinitum.

Dude, its what the Inspector General does. Have them conduct a simple line audit and if enough monkeying around is apparent, go for the forensic audit. One guy can run all of that and it wont even take him 2 weeks if hes worth his paycheck. GSA isnt a overly large agency. Its surprising they have that much leeway in their budget.

The OIG has already done that. It's mentioned in the original article. Of course the OIG is part of the GSA....

You are joking right?

I used contract in this form:

verb (used without object)
20. to become drawn together or reduced in compass; become smaller; shrink:

However, I can see the confusion and would of had the same reaction.

Uh, hello? You claimed that you were citing an article that showed the Obama administration knew of the problem. The article you cited only identified two people who knew of the scandal, outside the OIG, and they are both gone. So WTF are you talking about? Who are the other administration figures, and please include a link?

If there are such folks I certainly agree that they should be ****canned immediately.

Martha Johnson resigned...wonder what lifetime benefits she'll receive from taxpayers?

Seems most government agencies have these worthless conferences with a number of them held in Las Vegas. Most just show more waste and fraud in Washington...what else is new?
