Spike Lee says sorry to couple after Twitter mixup

Sorry, really doesn't work that way, or at least it shouldn't, but we have a screwed up legal system. It's like having someone post something here, 50 people respond to it and you pick the richest person who responded to sue because they quoted the information in their reply. It's ludicrous. Lee has no control over how many people follow him or how far his tweets go, any more than anyone else using Twitter.

Lee is responisble for what he says. I hope he gets sued and ends up in the gutter where he belongs.

Except, in my understanding, he didn't say it, he just passed it on, like forwarding a spam e-mail.

Let him use that for his defense in court. We'll see how far that bird flies.

You seem far more eager to get Lee into court for a tweet than you are Zimmerman into court for killing a kid.

If that spam email damages someone, is the person who forwards it not responsible/accountable since the email didn't originate from them?

Twitter cases have been seen more and more. There's no reason to think a law suit cannot be reasonably expected here. I'll refer you to:

Spooner vs. The Associate Press

Courtney Love was sued once successfully for $430K for defamation, and is being sued again for something she tweeted. So I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility here.

Please don't bring that crap in here... we're talking about a specific issue about Spike Lee's tweets. If you want to debate Zimmerman, there's tons of other threads for that.

You seem far more eager to defend a sacred cow like Spike Lee than look for the truth.

The pissant liberals will argue all day every day over "due process" if it's a muslim terrorist, but they're so eager to form a lynch mob to divert attention from their failures. Democracy is a useful tool when needed, and so is the mob, depending on the circumstance. That's the left.

I think it's more of an emotional visceral response, and I'm not sure it doesn't cross the line to moderate and conservatives. Those who have a vested emotional part in this tragedy are simply wanting Zimmerman to be the bad guy so badly, they're willing to take the leap into la-la land. They're trying to logically wrap their heads around how Zimmerman could shoot this kid and get off scott free. Zimmerman may be justified in the shooting but I think many do not want him to just walk away. He should pay some sort of price for his action and that's where people are starting to invent conspiracies ... like inventing that the police have fully bungled the investigation, that Zimmerman's family paid off the DA because his father was a judge, that there is some "cover up" going on.

Unless Zimmerman is charged with murder, they will not be satisfied. Unfortunately for us, fortunately for the leftist race baiters, the mob is made up mostly of emotion and ignorance.

its funny when known race-baiters complain about other supposed race-baiters.

;)

Spike Lee should not be arrested or charged with any crime because to the best of my knowledge he didnt break any laws. He did subject these people to harrassment and forced them to leave their home. I believe they have a case to seek monetary compensation from Lee.

We just want a trial and him to be held in prison right now becuase of the circumstances surronding the case...

If I were him, I may feel safer in county. Get charges so a judge can look at the evidence and decide if thing needs to go forward.

Its true regardless if you like it or not. I see somebody bending over backwards to make sure Zimmerman gets off free as a bird but they want Lee treated as a leper. I will point out this hypocrisy regardless if you approve or not.

Why would you name yourself the New Black Panthers if you didn't want a connection to the original Black Panthers? That is like New Coke not wanting a connection to original Coke. It makes no sense. And it is off subject.

Either way, Spike Lee used his influence irresponsibly.

It's like the Minute Men. They have zero connection to the original Minute Men - but they use the same name for name recognition purposes.

'

Perhaps you will have the intellectual integrity to reproduce my numerous posts in which I jumped to the defense of Spike Lee on this issue?

Courtney Love was the originator of her tweets. Spike Lee was retweeting.

Courtney love? who listens to her?

Both of them should be wary of a lawsuit then,.

Sure. Goodluck proving that Spike Lee is specifically responsible for anything that happens to these people after he like many others posted. If they plan to sue every single person who retweeted the message, I wish them good luck. But singling out Spike Lee makes them look like money grabbers.
