Most people aren't racist (they are out there, but not as much the race baiters make it seem like), but they are scared **** of criminals. People are perceived by their appearance. If you look a certain way, you will be looked as such.

If your generalization is that people wearing hoodies look like thugs, then yes - it's pretty baseless considering the tens of millions of hoodies that have been sold in this country to people of all stripes and sizes in the last 10 years.

Unless the officer posted in his official capacity, I see NO reason for ANY discipline.

Trayvon Martin was a burglar, thief, drug dealer (to children) at both school and the neighorhood, a doper, vandal and a violent felony assailant. It is lucky Zimmerman did have his 9mm. If not, it likely he would have just been another unsolved murder as a result of him reporting to police a drug peddler and burglar working the neighborhood. Trayvon Martin (not a child but a 6' 3" 17 year old) was engaged in felony aggravated assault and attempted murder at the time he was shot.

Calling him a "thug" was an understatement and believing better the criminal die than the innocent person is not an outrageous opinion to have. Regardless, unless he was speaking in his capacity as a police officer he could express his opinion the same as everyone else. I'm in law enforcement. If my identity known should I be fired or suspended for expressing my opinion? Do I HAVE to hide my identity to anyone and everyone I express my personal opinion about? People in law enforcement have private free speech rights too.

Since you acknowledge that you smoke pot in your cars and have for years, I say you're a dangerous and reckless person willing to endanger any and everyone, with it unfortunate you have not been arrested and jailed multiple times for DUI.


Maybe you think it's really cool your smoking pot in school and driving around getting stoned. I think that defines you as HIGHLY immmoral on your admission.

I don't think there is any llegal drug I did not use in my past often and got drunk plenty of times. Liqour, drugs, women, music, pleasure. It was my way of life. Daily way of life. I doubt you would have had the courage to even get out of your Febreeze filled car in a parking lot of my not-white-mama's-boy in Daddy's paid-for-car redlight district "minorities" Chicago world and would have been wise not to do so. But not ONCE did I drive any vehicle or even be outside the club or my flat when drugged up or drunk. Your bragging of doing so for years means you're a fool legally - or think you were safe because police usually don't pull over white kids in nice car's their daddy bought them and absolutely indifferent to how much you are willing to endanger others. Guys who look like me driving what I could afford got pulled over just for the suspicion of being in the wrong part of town. And I am not so low as to endanger everyone on the road driving while under the influence of anything.

Dear New Orleans PD. In case you didnt get the memo...if you are already on desk duty for investigation of a shooting, it is unwise to then make comments of ANY nature on Facebook, Blogs, and new web sites...and certainly to do so with your name on them. It is also unwise to ever as a police officer harbor these kind of sentiments, let alone express them outloud. You will make your Union rep and legal defense teams job that much harder.

I would think the NO police dept have a policy that you cannot use their computers for personal use. The feds have a policy like that. Also while you can have an opinion, the officer should not have stated he was a NO LE, it gives the impression of speaking for the dept.

First, ask yourself why a neighborhood would actually establish and maintain a neighborhood watch. Do you have one in your neighborhood? Consider what that actually means for a minute. And now go to a mirror and look yourself in the eye, and tell yourself out loud that if you were on neighborhood watch night patrol, a strange man in a hoodie wouldn't aroused the slightest bit of suspicion. If you can do that without cracking up, then the bliss pool is for you.
