Marine faces dismissal for anti-Obama Facebook posts

Who were they? If they were active duty military personnel and they spoke out against the President or U.S. policy, they should have been disciplined. Understand this, folks. The military is not a democracy. Nor is it part of the political world. If you want a military that is actively involved in politics, I'd suggest North Korea or Syria or Egypt or any of a host of South and Central American nations.

I don't recall anyone, who spoke out against the president, or U.S. policy ever being disciplined. I recall some people refusing to deploy with their units being kinda-sorta disciplined. I also recall every Libbo in the country foaming at the mouth about how they had the right to do so.

But, this time it's different: we're talking about a far Left president, who is black. Leftist hypocrisy blows me away.

My point is that it should be allowed. The people in the military have opinions and should be free to express them.

They are free to express those opinions, under the right circumstances. This Marine didn't disobey any orders, nor was he on duty, nor was he in uniform, or in public.

Dan Choi did all of that and nothing happened to him.

That's absurd. The guy is free to state his opinion, but it has consequences. What do you think woul happen to a Citi employee who started a Facebook page saying what an ass and crook Jamie Dimon is? He'd get ****canned immediately, of course.

Did you actually read it, before you posted it?

From the source that you posted:

4.1.1. A member of the Armed Forces on active duty may:

4.1.1.1. Register, vote, and express a personal opinion on political candidates and issues, but not as a representative of the Armed Forces.

4.1.1.6. Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper expressing the member’s personal views on public issues or political candidates, if such action is not part of an organized letter-writing campaign or a solicitation of votes for or against a political party or partisan political cause or candidate. If the letter identifies the member as on active duty (or if the member is otherwise reasonably identifiable as a member of the Armed Forces), the letter should clearly state that the views expressed are those of the individual only and not those of the Department of Defense (or Department of Homeland Security for members of the Coast Guard).

Look at it this way: Stein is an employee of the United States Marine Corps.

Stein said that he will not follow the direct orders of his boss, President Barack Obama.

if the Marines were a company, would they fire Stein?

you betcha'. :)

he appears to have advocated mutiny.

Unless he was urging other soldiers to follow him, there is no mutuiny. Mutiny is a group effort, not something executed by a single person.

At worst, this guy shot off his mouth in the wrong place. It rates a Level 5 ass chewing and perhaps a letter of reprimand in his 201 file.

The only reason that people are messing their britches, is because he was talking smack about The One and ot that I say: Grow up!

This isn't a private company. Until Stein actually disobeys a lawful order, he hasn't committed any violation.

If I had been court martialed everytime I said that I wasn't going to obey an order, I would still be in the stockade.

He's a centrist. You're just way out there on the right, waving palely as you're left behind.

Obama's a centrist? :lamo

All I got to say to that, is

Since he doesn't have a birth certificate, all of his orders must be unlawful.

Time to bring the troops home.

Great, so you think that a Marine should have LESS discipline and LESS accountability than, say, a bank teller? The few, the proud....

I never said that, but I know that doesn't matter to you.

What I am saying, is that this Marine didn't violate any regulations.

nope. they give up that right, as far as their commander in chief goes, when they enlist. period.

So would you agree with the statement that the men and women in the military who actively protested the Iraq and Afghanistan were wrong to do so? Not just legally wrong, but wrong in your eyes to oppose what Bush told them to do?

Article 89—Disrespect toward a superior commissioned officer

Anyone foolish enough to disrespect their boss on Facebook these days is kind of asking for something to be dropped on them from a great height.
