The Swedish Non-Proliferation and Export Controls Agency (ISP) has given the green light to a long list of weapons that different companies want to sell to Saudi Arabia. Two of these types of weapons have been used against demonstrators in Bahrain, according to secret documents that Swedish Radio news has acquired.

Peter Wezeman, a researcher with the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, says that the documents name at least two kinds of arms that were used by the regime in Bahrain to crack down on demonstrators.

I just want to say that the 9th of march 2012 will be recorded in history, as one of the biggest demonstrations, considering the number of Bahrain population, this year.

Today, 9th of March 2012, the people reiterate their willingness to offer more sacrifices to reach their demand for democracy. Certainly, people are the sole source capable of extending and removing legitimacy from any future government.

Final communiqué for the rally of 9 March 2012 “Obeying Bahrain’s Call”

Rally of a people demanding freedom and democracy

“People of Bahrain consider existing government lacking legitimacy and demand its immediate dismissal”

Organizers of today’s historical rally wish to express their gratitude to the people for answering the nation’s call in this exceptional day. Those attending today’s rally have done so willingly, clearly demonstrating their care and concern about the country’s destiny.

Special thanks go to Bahraini women who have put on display the best possible examples of devotion and sacrifice for the cause of the nation.

Certainly, our movement fits in line with laws of the universe, for which Allah has promised victory and justice eventually.

In this junction, we like to send several messages to the concerned parties:

To those sharing this nation with us:

To those who have decided not to take part in this event, we reiterate to them that the country belongs to all nationals on the basis of equal rights and obligations. Our demands, in turn an integral part of the nation’s history, aim at bringing about democracy for the good of all and virtues such as equal opportunity and fair distribution.

Whilst deploring dictatorship as a form of rule in the country and showing zero tolerance for corruptive practices by the state, we extend to you our thoughts and minds to come together for the wellbeing of our beloved nation.

To the authorities:

Time has come for real implementation of the principle of “people are sources of all powers” as stipulated in the National Action Charter, the constitution, and international conventions on civil and political rights. Likewise, time has come for adoption of a constitution guaranteeing election of executive and legislative branches besides ensuring an independent judiciary.

The people of Bahrain, via this historical presence, are sending a clear message, namely their determination for attaining their natural rights and certainly not on the basis of tribe, denomination and race.

The people hold the authorities responsible for all accumulated losses for their failure of listening to the just demands. Instead, officials have reverted to oppressive and abusive practices, though in return only strengthened their determination and steadfastness for pursing their rights.

Wrongly, the authorities had exerted and thereby wasted on circumventing resources the need for comprehensive reforms through public relations and provision of favours to those willing to support baseless projects. Yet, failure is likely to be destiny of fresh measures designed to evade presentation of comprehensive solutions.

The Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) has determined that the revaluation in Bahrain is an internal matter with no interference whatsoever from Iran. Certainly, this massive presence today further confirms the fact that your movement is comprehensively local.

Undoubtedly, the BICI report has enlisted exceptional crimes committed by the government. Hence, logically and wisely this government must be dismissed as a sign of goodwill and indication of desire for reforms. Yet, this government, in turn devoid of legitimacy, has made some cosmetic changes but certainly short of addressing major wrongdoing practices let alone punishing the real perpetuators from both civil and military ranks, as advised by BICI report.

Full implementation of BICI recommendations is essential foremost of which being release of all political detainees, reinstatement of all sacked employees, trial of those standing behind committed crimes and inclusion of people from all walks of life in security apparatus as well as ensuring security for all.

We call on the authorities to listen to demands of the people by contemplating a political solution capable of guaranteeing true democracy and sustained, in turn vital for sustaining a comprehensive development.

To the international community:

We call on the international community to look at the just demands of people of Bahrain in the same treatment extended to other revolutions of Arab Spring. Our struggle rests upon the notion that people are sources of all powers. The international community is looked upon to press for the rights of Bahraini people to engage in peaceful demonstrations, and to show willingness to provide protection whenever deemed necessary.

Our main message:

Today, 9th of March 2012, the people reiterate their willingness to offer more sacrifices to reach their demand for democracy. Certainly, people are the sole source capable of extending and removing legitimacy from any future government.
