Pat Robertson: Really, Legalize Pot

Just because you are ideologically opposed to someone doesn't mean that there are not any issues you can agree on.

I tend to disagree with Pat Robertson, and I disagree with him on this issue as well.

That's kind of where I am. I'm not sure on the marijuana....I'm not a stoner. I don't know that I think it should be illegal, but I certainly don't feel any great drive to legalize it either.

A broken clock is right at least twice a day.

Pot should be legalized, it provides us nothing but horrendous costs, and a strain on our justice system with it being legal, and will bring us many benefits if it is made legal. Easy choice IMO.

Why not? From what I have heard him say over the years, he must be smoking a kilo per day. LOL.

He would be smarter if he smoked weed, get rid of that giant ego of his.

Pot and possibly other drugs, should be decriminalized and regulated like alcohol and tobacco.

The war on drugs is an abysmal failure. The only thing the war on drugs has accomplished is over-crowding our prison system, lives and money lost, and made huge profits for the warlords and drug dealers.

All drugs should be legalized. If a person wants to ruin their life with it, well, that's their choice. We all know the pros and cons of alcohol, yet it remains legal. A person is allowed to destroy themselves with alcohol so long as they obey the law. All the government needs to do is figure out how to distribute and tax the substances, and then we'll be on our merry way. Because as mentioned above, the War on Drugs has been a losing battle since day one. It didn't help when the CIA protected the very people the DEA got hardons over.

You tend to disagree with many things while lacking a valid contrapostion. Such sentiments carry little weight.

I'm not a stoner either- tried it when I was young, and didn't like it at all. That being said, it's likely less harmful than alcohol healthwise, and almost certainly less harmful when it comes to family and social dysfunction, based on my observation of friends who are either alcoholics or pot smokers. I support legalization completely.

No they shouldn't.

What if they want to ruin their children or familie's lives with it?

Alcohol doesn't have the effects that PCP or meth does.

What happens to a person if they give a minor alcohol, and is caught in America?

Could easily say: Police: Drunk man kills father, 50 | Local & Regional | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO News

And why do you think drugs shouldn't be legalized?

PCP and alcohol aren't comparable.

And safety of kids comes before someone's "rights". Rights are a privilege, not an automatic entitlement.

A right is the power of free action. A privilege is an advantage someone has beyond the common advantages of other citizens.

A license of any kind is a privilege. It is given to you once you complete certain qualification. A right is something that can be taken from you.

If that were true, then why isn't alcohol illegal? How many thousands of children have been injured/maimed and/or killed by alcohol related traffic collisions/abuse?

Drunk driving is illegal.

No one has a legal right to smoke PCP in front of their kids.

Alcohol is a drug. So is nicotine. We saw what happened when the first one was outlawed. Outlaw the second, and it would be just as bad or worse. Other drugs are still outlawed, and with the same result: violent gangs, smuggling, an underground market.

Outlawing drugs does not work. The outcome is violence that is worse than the drugs themselves.

Nicotine and alcohol don't cause the psychoactive effects that hard drugs like PCP do.
