Explosive Growth of Militias

Especially when racism, homophobia, and religiously motivated bigotry is often a part of their agendas.

Where is your information which supports this conclusion?

(Sounds like a different sort of person spouting off about the gay "agenda," actually.)

What do you mean "nice dodge?" Is it a problem that I am asking you to back up your statements?

LOLZ. Why are you linking to articles and say that I must believe them? None of the articles you gave prove that the SPLC has an agenda. Proving that the SPLC has an agenda would mean that you have actual documentation that the SPLC is saying and doing things all with the purpose of promoting a certain viewpoint.

EDIT:

The first article does not do that. The second article only shows that some Christians are upset at how the SPLC uses their hate lablel. The final article is a complete joke. It's more of an opinion piece rather than an article that is presenting the facts. This is shown in not only the tone of the article, but also childish behavior such as replacing the S with $.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

I was being sarcastic in responding to you by linking the articles with the idea since you believe the SPLC you should believe those articles without them proving their stance.

Again, the point is the SPLC made a statement. They have the burden of proving it. They fail in doing so.

OK, to make you feel better I retract my statement of they have a hidden agenda.

It is not worth the bandwidth to post links to sites under the search SPLC hidden agenda. try ti sometime.

I seriously doubt that this has anything to do with making me feel better and more to do with the fact that I destroyed your argument.

Remember a few years ago "the year of the shark" where the media reported ad nauseum every shark attack it could find, making the people think there was an epidemic?

Yeah, shark attacks were actually down that year, it was a made up story.....

Militia stories on the way up towards the november elections? made up.

If you think that these stories are made up, do you mind providing evidence?

How many militia men do you know? :lamo

"he election of President Barack Obama in 2008 triggered an explosion in the number of militias and so-called patriot groups in the United States, the Southern Poverty Law Center reported in its annual tally of such anti-government organizations."

Read it carefully, this liberal "think tank" has an agenda. Who are these "patriot groups" and what non biased observation would opine that in a report? This group like to attach "racism" to whatever it can. cheapening the real issue of racism.

Name them.

I have to agree that the OP article is a biased article. A non-biased article would not include words such as "so called patriot groups" and shouldn't have the words "patriot" in quotation marks. That is the author indicating that he/she doesn't believe that they (the militia's) are really patriotic.

Actually most of them are very patriotic. They just worry that the left is going to turn full-Commie, declare martial law and start door-to-door confiscation of guns and bibles.

As long as Obama doesn't do that, they'll stick to shooting paper targets and drinking beer.

They are possibly termed 'patriot' groups by those who wrote the study the article is based on.

Personally, I want to know what in the hell is wrong with being a patriot.

And I want to know when it became patriotic to prepare for war against our government every time the opposing party wins an election.

At least since jeffersonian times....

Like the good Rev said, since at least the Jeffersonian times. Why do you think the 2nd amendment was originally put into the Bill of Rights? Hint: It wasn't put there just to protect a persons right to hunt and defend oneself against thieves and murderers.

Who is preparing for war? Specifics, please.

So, a pro gun far rightwing nutcase wouldn't have a problem with, for example, the Weather Underground reconstituting, recruiting four or five hundred thousand heavily armed members, and carrying out military maneuvers in his home town? While explicitly stating that they're just keeping watch to make sure that the government doesn't do anything that *they* deem unconstitutional?

If they don't engage in violence so what? I don't believe in prior restraint. And if they want to rise up and rebel, that will solve the problem and allow us to rid the country of a bunch of left wing whackos who probably support the dem party anyway

Why must they be leftwing? Couldn't they be conservative? Independents? Centrists?

It's kind of idiotic to single out a particular side if you don't know each groups beliefs don't you think?

And you'll be happy living in Theocracy?

And you'll be happy living in Theocracy?

You'd think after all the times you have responded to my posts you'd have figured out I have as little use for the bible thumpers as I do for the brain dead socialist left

I keep telling you people that sooner rather than later there is going to be a Third American Revolution. The first one started with small town and regional militias under the Minuteman system (which had been in place for more than a century) and the Sons of Liberty. This is a more high tech and slightly more militant version of that same ideal.

And after U.S. drones blow the bands of stupid rednecks back to hell, then what?

But what you described doing would leave you living in a backwards Christian Theocracy... So I was just wondering if you really thought it through.

Wrong as usual. If the far left rebels people of all faiths will be shooting them
