Altogether, the documents released by EPIC in January and in February reveal that the Department is paying defense contractor General Dynamics to monitor the Internet for “reports that reflect adversely on DHS and response activities,” including “reports that pertain to DHS and sub agencies — especially those that have a negative spin on DHS/Component preparation, planning, and response activities,” among other things.

So, the US government is keeping tabs on social media websites. This is not that surprising, but it lets us know just how invasive the government is in our private lives. First they wanted the Patriot Act to "protect us from terrorists" and now they have drones in the sky and are keeping tabs on our social media. that is about as ominous as federal agencies subscribing to newspaper clipping services in the past. to find out what the media was saying about issues in which the agency was involved

Of course they are. Big Brother is watching.

The DHS should be abolished.

So the federal government is looking at public information that people post about the federal government

THE HORROR!

As long as they are only using it too keep track of potential terrorist I am OK with it but it does bring forth the slippery slope thing. It is interesting though too see the libs that freaked over Bush's patriot act yawn about this.
