Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu — who became the face of Arizona border security nationally after he started stridently opposing illegal immigration — threatened his Mexican ex-lover with deportation when the man refused to promise never to disclose their years-long relationship, the former boyfriend and his lawyer tell New Times.
Yes, a Republican running for Congress, who is outspoken on illegal immigration, and who also wants to tell us how to morally live our lives, was having a homosexual relationship with an illegal alien. When they broke up, he had his lawyer threaten to deport the illegal if he ever said a word about their relationship. This is not one man's word against another either. There is hard evidence, in the form of text messages that prove it.
If I were a Republican living in Arizona, I would certainly vote for the Sherrif's oppenent in the election. If, somehow, this guy wins the primary, then I will be absolutely convinced that there is something in Arizona's drinking water.
Meanwhile, I will once again attack those who put themselves on a pedestal, and tell the rest of us how we should live. People are not defined by what they say, but by what they do.
