Foster Friess: In my day, women "used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives" - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

Foster Friess, a prominent backer of Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, raised eyebrows Thursday when he offered up his own idea for a possible contraceptive method: "This contraceptive thing, my gosh, it's so... inexpensive. Back in my days, they used Bayer aspirin for contraceptives."

Friess's implication is that if women hold aspirin between their legs, they won't open them.

OMG OMG OMG OMG. Wait for it.... Andrea Mitchell, what could she have said?

She could say "You're right. We're all idiots. We shouldn't be talking about contraception because it's completely irrelevant to anything. I'm going to quit my job now, and instead dedicate my life to growing turnips."

Of course, that's just one option. She could have said many other things too.

No babies with bayer. Or aspirin =abstinence. I just don't have any good ones. Her reaction was perfect.

Santorum is whining like little bitch whenever he's asked about this fat clown: "The media is so unfair, he like Obama and you don't like me"... Blah, blah, blah...

Hey, homophobe, we don't like you because you're not likable.

When I was in HS, there was a very prevalent rumor that if a woman douched with coca-cola after sex, she would not conceive. I never heard the one about aspirin, but it may have been part of the mythology.

This idiot needs a class on contraception, and Santorum needs to tell his crazy people supporters to STFU.

You should read what he said then. Because he's implying that its impossible to get pregnant if you don't have sex, which is true.

Makes perfect sense. Married women should just be celibate then, right?

That's what I got out of it. That's his recommended method of birth control.

Yes, but it's just not a practical way of preventing pregnancies for most people.

The 100% solution to no more car wrecks would be if everyone stopped drinving their cars. Again, not a practical solution to a real problem.

If someone really can't afford a 3 dollar pack of condoms, and doesn't presently want children, then they probably shouldn't have sex. Not really rocket science.

And the best way to 100% prevent obesity is to stop everyone from eating.

True, but, then again, people actually have practical reasons to drive a car.

What does that even mean? There is no practical reason to have sex? Please clarify.

The only practical use of having sex is procreation. Any other use of sex is indulgence, which isn't necessarily wrong, but it isn't absolutely necessary. If someone can't afford a 3 dollar pack of condoms, and doesn't want to take the risk of pregnancy, it would be best not to have sex until such condoms can be obtained.

Well, I'm not a religious person, and I have 4 children all planned, and me and mine do not use contraceptives at all, never have. One, I and the Ms's don't like the feel of them, and two the pill is like playing russian roulette with cancer. I suppose one could use alternative but more invasive measures but why not just *Pull out*? That's what I do, and have done for as long as I can remember?? I don't get it. It's not like a guy doesn't know when he's about to ejaculate. Simply pull the sucker out before you do?

Hehe.. Well, maybe.. But still, the best way to prevent pregancy is to not have sex, the second best way is to do what cultures have done for thousands of years, and that's exercize some control.. :)

Of every 100 women whose partners use withdrawal, 4 will become pregnant each year if they always do it correctly.
Of every 100 women whose partners use withdrawal, 27 will become pregnant each year if they don't always do it correctly.
Pull Out Method - Withdrawal Method

and the woman relies 100% on the man using this form of birth control
how effective is that when you have young teens learning about sex

Like what?

What can a car do that public transportation can't?

Well, when you don't live in a metropolitan area, get you where you need to go in less than 6 hours.

True, but, then again, people actually have practical reasons to drive a car.

My point went straight over your head didn't it? My point was that it is absurd to believe that abstinence is a practical policy instead of contraceptives in today's time.

And men rely on women to take their pill too, so? Young teens, how young are we talking about here, and doesn't that really come under the umbrella of effective parenting? By the way, I'd like to see that study by planned parenthood. Do they mean every 100 times having sex or 4 out of 100 over the course of the sexual relationship? I think kids should use condoms; I believe that is reasonable but I'm not going to force it on anyone, or mandate that insurance companies pay for it. My God people, how far do you want government in your lives?

A while back, some liberals told me they argue so hard for government intervention because there are conservatives arguing against it.

Basically, they're banking on conservatives holding them back from taking things too far. It's just like how your wife banks on you pulling out.
