Catholics hear anti-Obama letter in church

You Catholic haters always bring up the priest thing when you are clueless about it........Do you have any idea about how many priests were involvewd in the scandal..........Less then 1%...

It's not the number- it's how the catholic church brushed it under the rug and overlooked the problem and failed to respond as a business or organization that was decent would respond.

Joe Paterno = fired (and he didn't even violate anything)

Catholic Priests = nothing.

See the issue?

Now - you could argue that it doesn't make *all* priests bad just like pedophilic school teacher don't make *all* school teacher bad - and would have a valid point.

The Catholic church is excessively judgmental and intolerant of everyone except for it's own leaders . . . hypocritical to the umpth degree.

I don't have a problem with the basics of their faith - I have a problem with their inability to be, itself, capable of following it's own rules that it judges others by.

Televangelists are not Catholics. But, as far as atheists asking for donations, yes, they do....

Atheist Volunteers

How You Can Support Humanism

Absolutely.

Yeah I really wonder how much they get? Probably not alot.

As with any sect in society we all have our nuts.

I'm an atheist and I don't ask for donations, care about turning anyone else atheist.

Maybe not, and maybe you personally don't, but that doesn't mean that Atheism as an organized movement doesn't.

Roughdraft tried to make it sound like they didn't, I corrected him.

Obama must be either insane, taking on a voting block that makes up some 28% of the electorate, or he is just conceeded enough to think that he can dictate to the Church.

What say you?

So, men who take a vow to not have sex are lecturing people on sexual matters?

An overwhelming majority of Catholic women already use some form of contraception.

And Fox News and the Hannity Hacks see an opportunity to pretend this matters, they care employees of Notre Dame have restrictive health care plans.

And rape victims should not go to Catholic hospitals, because Jesus thinks that when you dress sexy and drink tequila you get what you deserve. The only morning after pill you need, sweetheart, is prayer.

Good to know.

There is no point in bothering those whose minds are already made up with facts. They are out there, including insurance reports, about the reality of clergy abuse across denominations.

Back to the thread's topic, Hugh Hewitt is among those who wonder if this is a "Boenhoffer moment."

The President's Anti-Catholic Duck - Hugh Hewitt - Townhall Conservative

Hewitt also discusses his radio conversation with E.J. Dionne, a known Democrat partisan who is also a devout Catholic and troubled by Obama's actions here.

Transcript: HughHewitt.com Blog : Hugh Hewitt : E.J. Dionne and Senator Pat Toomey on President Obama's Attack on the Roman Catholic Church

This is a grossly inaccurate, misleading, and dispicable post. I won't address it further.

There were some mistakes made no doubt, as a catholic i will be the first to admit but I think you are being a little to general. The church is horribly judgmental (ive never heard of them really making any judgements... I never understand where people get that.) and not totally intollerant of everyone else.

Those damn facts!!

I understand. They can be overwhelming and counterproductive...

I don't know what is in Aunties head, but it seems as though the "judgemental" portion of his post is more a sign of projection, than fact.

Understand? No you don't, and that is that.

I hate that. When you start and thread, ask for thoughts and someone cuts your premise to pieces, be prepared to defend it or don't start threads.

1) There is no rule currently being enforced.

2) This is all about anti-Obama, so Fox News will feature the story every hour on the hour. They are very predictable.

3) Catholics use contraceptives regardless of what the celibate priests and bishops say.

4) Just because a business flies under the banner of the church does not give it unlimited protection. They hire people of all faiths and atheists. Who is forcing the Catholic to actually get and use the contraception? Answer: No one. Shouldn't that be an individual's choice?

5) Rape victims have been denied morning after pill by Catholic hospitals. They made the victim feel even worse for asking for it. But Catholics wrote the book on guilt.

Again, don't start threads if you can't stand the debate part.

Oh, I don't run sir, nope, not at all. But I will not be drawn into a snarky back and forth with someone that has no intention of being honest in the conversation.

Oh. BTW, are you Catholic?

1) There is no rule currently being enforced.

No rule being enforced? What are you talking about? You mean within the Chruch?

The Catholic doctrine considers the use of contraceptives a mortal sin. That members are not ex-communicated for confessing such, is ultimately between the parishioner and their priest. It is not for you, nor I to pass that judgement.

2) This is all about anti-Obama, so Fox News will feature the story every hour on the hour. They are very predictable.

It is not just FOX. Turn on your TV, and tune to MSNBC. I am watching it right now, and Matthews, and Schultz have both led with the issue.

3) Catholics use contraceptives regardless of what the celibate priests and bishops say.

Each person has an individual walk with God, and the Church. I will not be my brothers judge. Why do you feel you should be?

I think you are off base here. You seem to want to catagorize Catholic hospitals, charities, and schools as some sort of scheme using the Church to skirt certain law, and tax. This couldn't be further from the truth. These institutions are a part of the Church, and governed as such. They do much charitable good for the community, and country as a whole.

This is like you saying that if there were Muslim hospitals in this country, and HHS decided that white meat was health beneficial, and mandated availability of Pork products to be served within all Mosques, hospitals, schools, and so on etc....How do you think that would be viewed?

5) Rape victims have been denied morning after pill by Catholic hospitals. They made the victim feel even worse for asking for it. But Catholics wrote the book on guilt.

Are the Catholic institutions the only place that the victim can go? And further, what blotto world is this when liberals scream at a prayer being said at a graduation, but it is fine for the government to tell a religion to cast their tennants aside, and they will dictate what that religion must offer?

Again, don't start threads if you can't stand the debate part.

See hazelnut, this is where reasonable people dismiss your rants in most cases as just too crazy to even engage. You have to get these digs in there to push buttons of emotion, without that you would lose every debate you actually attempt. But I will give the benefit of the doubt here and give it a try, but I won't put up with too much silliness from you sir, so stick to it.

j-mac

Forcing insurance companies to cover all contraceptives is stupid. There are expensive life saving drugs that aren't free, why shouldn't someones contraceptives? Why is preventing pregnancy more important than preventing a heart attack/dying of AIDS/stopping asthma attacks?

Yikes. Try to keep up. No 'rule'... the so called Obama rule.

And this is the last time I'm going to say this, the majority of Catholic women use contraceptives. Regardless of some archaic rule book and old celibate men.

It is not just FOX. Turn on your TV, and tune to MSNBC. I am watching it right now, and Matthews, and Schultz have both led with the issue.

Good for you, getting more than one perspective, I aways encourage that.

Each person has an individual walk with God, and the Church. I will not be my brothers judge. Why do you feel you should be?

Exactly. So, for-profit hospitals and universities who hire people from all religions should provide proper health care coverage. And let everyone decide for themselves.

Please, please, please... when you don't have a clue, when you don't know what the hell you are talking about... DON'T POST. It's embarrassing.

Since 1967, Notre Dame has been governed by a Board of Trustees, and not directly by the leadership of Holy Cross.

And try to wrap your head around this... 9,684 -- That is the number of contraceptive sterilization procedures performed at Catholic Hospitals (2000-2003)

Row #1: This sample represents 9,684 patient records which include the V25.2 code (admission for contraceptive sterilization by interruption of fallopian tubes or vas deferens). In these cases, the purpose for the accompanying procedures involving the fallopian tubes or vas deferens is explicitly for sterilization (in this example 66.32). The other diagnostic codes do not affect the purpose of this procedure since V25.2 is an intention to sterilize for contraceptive purposes regardless of pathology.

These records also show the same Catholic Hospitals performing 50 abortions. (2000-2003)

You want me to keep going or do you promise to stop making stuff up and not post until you know what you're talking about?:peace

The point is, Catholics don't care, Catholic Doctors don't care, this is about Obama and some hyper-partisan priests NOT MAINSTREAM CATHOLICS making a big deal to bring up ABORTIONS... whooooooooo, ahhhhhhhhh

So what Hazl? People are supposed to wait for it to go into effect before they act?

Please, please, please...when you occasionally get a clue and want to pass it on, try to do so in a way that isnt combative, inflammatory and...RUDE. Its embarassing.

As for the rest it requires a ton of digging to validate the findings. I remain unconvinced when I see hospitals titled "Baptist" in the findings. So pardon me if Im skeptical until I can do some digging.

I like a man who thinks he's talking when he says nothing.

Very entertaining.

Apparently Jmac has run out of talking points.

The case is dropped due to lack of evidence.

You do appear to be rather infatuated with yourself, that's true.

Or at some point, you realize you're arguing with a drunken hobo, and you just get off the train.

Just wondering where he went.

Some of us work. And seeing as I am on my phone right now, I'll have to get back to you tomorrow.
