The cat was a pet of Jake Burris, who manages Democrat Ken Aden's bid for Arkansas' 3rd Congressional District. Aden is running against incumbent Republican Representative Steve Womack.

Burris was returning to his Russellville, Arkansas home with his four children when he found the cat on his doorstep, the Aden campaign said in a press release on Monday.

The mixed-breed Siamese cat had one side of its head bashed in to "the point the cat's eyeball was barely hanging from its socket," the release said.

Indeed. These are the sorts of people who wind up gunning down humans a few years later. Wanton cruelty to animals is an indication of sociopathy.

Not that it isn't plenty evil enough that someone would kill a cat simply to make a point. Just sick.

Well, it wasn't the first thought to cross my mind-- but now that you mention it, wasn't that what happened the last time we had a case like this?

The first thought that crossed my mind is that when we find the sick son of a bitch that did this, we ought to bury him alive with the cat, an oxygen supply, and nothing else. Let him think about what he's done.

A crime like this has nothing to do with conservativism or liberalism, Republican or Democrat. This is the act of a very sick, evil individual. Whether that individual thought he was a conservative, making some kind of point against liberalism, or a liberal trying to set this up as a smear against conservatism is largely irrelevant.
 
Anyone trying to make connections between psychopathology and party affiliation doesn't know what they are talking about. It just isn't relevant.

I think it is probably a sicko neighbor with a grudge and took it out on a poor defenseless animal.If its not a neighbor it might be a stalker because I think it would take extra ordinary effort to find out who someone's reelection manager is, where that person lives,what pets that person has,go down to that person's neighborhood and wait for an opportunity to go kill someone's pet and leave a message on it.Hopefully Burris arms himself and gets some security.
 
Wow, what a cowardly act. Only a coward would attack a poor defenseless animal because of some stupid grudge. I'm glad to see that so far most of the posts have been non-partisan. Hopefully we can keep it that way.

I really wish you wouldn't ascribe what he says to "conservative wisdom". I don't see a lot of people liking his post. We're not rallying behind him with signs baring the quote. That's his opinion, and it has absolutely nothing to do with conservative thought, principle, or wisdom.
 
yeah...this is one of those cases where if everyone universally doesnt just condemn the act and hope for reciprocal treatment of the perpetrator...well...come on now...seriously?
 
Now, in regards to the OP: Whoever did this is scum. They should be found and should be made to pay for what they've done. I'm sure this man's family is distraught and probably uneasy in their own home at this point. And a poor, defenseless cat is dead. There is no statement worth making that should ever be made in this manner. As S&M said, this screams socio/psychopath behavior and whoever did this could be a very real threat to the general population. I don't care if the perp has a shrine to Reagan or Saul Alinsky. When he's found, and I sincerely hope he's found, he'll have to pay.
