Bruins MVP Tim Thomas skips Obama White House event

So, did Former Chicago Bears Hall of Famer Dan Hampton. I'd only visit Obama's White House for a $25,000 appearance fee (autograph included). Being Dan Hampton was from Chicago, that's ones got to sting.

It reflects on the people that choose not to show up more than anything.

It's only insulting on my part if I thought you were a heterosexual. I don't.

you really need to cut out this hate speech. The Good Reverend is comfortable with his flaming heterosexuality and his stunning good looks, Everyone hits on him. But alas, I am happily married to a fine beautiful woman, you can see her in the tavern.... Your attempts to slam me by inferring I am a homosexual makes you look bigoted and quite archie bunkerish.

It's only a slam if you think homoesexuality is somehow bad or inferior. Is that what you think?

What is homoesexuality [sic]?

Look chief, This thread is about Tim Thomas not attending the Obama shindig, many athletes did the same under bush. I'm sure you can link to you calling these athletes "idiots" as well, somewhere in the DP archive. I'll wait. This thread is not about your use of hate speech to slam me by calling me gay.

Don't really care to be honest, however regardless of who the president is I think when you're invited to the White House, you go.

I think what Thomas did was a little juvenile but meh, it's his life and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it because I have more important things to worry about.

Like Gingrichs ex wives.

Why should anyone have to go? As far as I read Obama just had them there for the congrats and gimme a signed jersey. I haven't read anything about a luncheon. I wouldn't go either.

Moderator's Warning:
The childish name calling and crap ends now. Rev, TNE, you both know where this type crap belongs, and it isn't up here.

You seen to have a short-term memory loss. It was your comment of:

Several athletes refused to meet with Bush.

That I responded with:

And they were partisan idiots to.

in this very thread just yesterday

Reading is fundamental Rev :2wave:

A day late and a dollar short, please link in the archives your comments then. Thanks.

Nope I made the comments BEFORE you asked for them. Not short at all, except for your memory.

I saw what you posted, Like I said, back then, you know, when it happened, you were silent. It's ok, I was silent too, cause I really don't judge atheletes by thier politics any more than I judge politicians by thier athleticism, I find that rather pointless.

his statement:

""I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government. Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL. This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT"

I find that anything but idiotic. He's absolutley right, this government by both parties is in direct opposition to the USC and the FF's vision for this great land.

He also graduated from the University of Vermont before embarking on his professional hockey career, If you ever watch him in interviews. "idiot" would be the furthest thing from a rational persons mind.

Because I don't look at EVERY thread and post in EVERY thread, your point is irrelevant. Not posting on a thread does not mean condoning by that action.

I commented that people that turn down a request to go to the whitehouse simply because of the sitting president are partisan idiots. I've proven my point that I mean all of them regardless of the president, you haven't proven yours. You were wrong. I accept your concession though that you cannot prove I thought otherwise.

Yes, you did concede. You accused me of not thinking the same for all people regardless of the sitting president. I showed a quote that proved otherwise. You, however, have shown nothing of the sort. Your concession is noted as well as your support for a partisan idiot like Thomas.

Later bro.

What is a maroon?

It's the way Bugs Bunny pronounced the word "moron"

Most of us respect the OFFICE, we just have no respect for the OCCUPANT OF IT. You couldn't pay me enough money to meet that worthless waste of flesh and oxygen, Mr. Obama. Nor would you find me even on a public tour of the White House during his administration. As a Conservative and a Boston Bruins fan, I have absolutely no problem with what Tim Thomas did yesterday.

Turning down an invitation to the White House is disrespectful regardless of who you are and who is in the office.

My grandmother was offered an award from the state of Indiana when the governor was a man she despised; but she accepted the award because these things are not about politics - it's about respect for the office and our system.

Now, not attending a political rally for the office holder, that's just fine. That is how you show you disapprove of the office holder's politics.

There are time for politics and there are times to put politics aside as we are all Americans.

Those of you who are hockey fans, it's fine to still root for him, but very simply he placed politics before country.

I think it's more disrespectful what our leaders do to this country... You are of the opinion they are like royalty, you forget, sir, they work for us.
