Exclusive: Gingrich Lacks Moral Character to Be President, Ex-Wife Says

Are you saying he didn't marry her? He hasn't cheated on his wives?

The only "fact" in dispute is her claiming he asked her if she wanted "an open marriage" rather divorce. They had previously been separated for 6 years. She said no, he pursued divorce, she fought him over alimony, they divorced and he married the other woman. The only aspect he of that disputed is whether he offered the option of an "open marriage." The number of people who don't actually do the paperwork of divorce and each go on in their lives is actually quite common.

Given the extreme length of separation they were already there anyway. Since he was the primary income earner, basically he was offering to continue financial support. She said no figuring on big alimony - only then infuriated to find out he was flat broke and worth less than $0. That he was broke rather a mega-millionaire indicates he was honest while in Congress.

i'm sorry, but how do you know all this?

Not to mention that it was ABC that "broke" this 12 year old gem....

Yep it's all ABCs fault and the DNC that he had the affair

Not what I said, and I think you know better than that. Now would you like to be honest, or continue to misrepresent, and lie?

Gingrich admits having an affair in Clinton era

"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was having an extramarital affair even as he led the charge against President Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair, he acknowledged in an interview with a conservative Christian group.

"The honest answer is yes," Gingrich, a potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate, said in an interview with Focus on the Family founder James Dobson to be aired Friday, according to a transcript provided to The Associated Press. "There are times that I have fallen short of my own standards. There's certainly times when I've fallen short of God's standards."

Gingrich argued in the interview, however, that he should not be viewed as a hypocrite for pursuing Clinton's infidelity."

'Ya know, the last guy to talk about the "reprehensible" nature of the politics of personal destruction was......

Bill Clinton

Just sayin'.

Clinton's not saying anything that I have heard. That would be as hypocritical as it was for Gingrich to attack Clinton's affair, at the same time he was having an affair.

What's that now? a politician was hypocritical about something? Well, I am just floored! That has NEVER happened before....My God! what next? Will they start lying too?

Gingrich's many affairs don't bother me as much as his whole, do as I say, not as I do, bull****. Cheating on your spouse is a lesser crime than being a phony in politics as far as I am concerned.

Again, lots of time between then and now...Like I said I am sorry to hear that you don't believe in redemption....

Not really a bombshell, but may further degrade American's beliefs of what Newt's moral character is.

Not likely...just took SC by a large margin.

Sorry the smear didn't work out.

Of course it didn't have any effect on conservatives; it's a question of morality. It will cost him independent votes if he makes it to the general election, however.

Or might make people yearn for another Clinton presidency. Libs should LOVE the guy...

Liberals generally don't exclude people because they've made mistakes, but they and moderates REALLY don't appreciate hypocrites. You messed up and apologized? No big deal. You messed up, and while you were messing up you were moralizing about how someone else who messed up in the same way should be run out of town? Not so much.

You do know that Clinton was impeached, right?

The left demonizes Newt as much as the right is said to demonize Clinton...but here's the kicker

Newt didn't lie about it and he resigned. Clinton lied and didn't resign.

Yes, and acquitted. And unlike Newt, he didn't run around preaching about family values and the sanctity of marriage.

It appears that Newt has told any number of fibs about it. And he didn't resign over accusations of infidelity. He resigned because the vast majority of his fellow Republicans voted to slap him with massive ethics sanctions and because he was going to lose the speakership.
