Perry Files Emergency Motion to Get on Virginia Primary Ballot(edited)

Re: Perry, Gingrich, Santorum APPEAL unfair Virginia ruling keeping them off ballot..

Time for these guys to man up. Their campaign managers didn't do what the Commonwealth of Viriginia requires and therefore they can't be on the ballot. If you wanted to be on the ballot, make sure your people were doing their damn jobs.

Re: Perry, Gingrich, Santorum APPEAL unfair Virginia ruling keeping them off ballot..

Excuse me!

Perry is a three time elected Governor of the second largest, in area and population, State in the Union and is the 13th Largest economy in the world. The State of Texas is more successful than the other 49 ( 56 in some circles) combined.

And he didn't give a **** enough to get himself on the ballot.

So you don't believe that people should have the right to vote for anyone they see fit?

Irrelevant. No voting rights have been taken from anyone. You can vote for Mickey Mouse if you like.

Perry Files Emergency Motion to Get on Virginia Primary Ballot - Businessweek

And good riddance.

With any luck, the people of Virginia will now be able to vote for whomever they please, and not be forced to vote for Romney as some undemocratic elements would like to have happen.

If this appeal is successful, it will be a victory for democracy in the commonwealth of Virginia.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck

anyone and everyone, with no exceptions whatsoever, can go **** themselves.

I would still appeal it for the chance to get on the ballot. I don't buy into their arguments, but it's still a good idea to appeal. "Manning up" would just lead to further stupidity.

so sorry, no soup for you!! perry lost his appeal.

There will be further appeals.

"We are proud to fight for the rights of Virginia voters to be able to make a meaningful decision and cast their ballots for the candidate of their choice. This appellate ruling only affirms the trial court's assertion that the state's process of printing ballots should not be disrupted. An orderly ballot access process is important, but of little significance if viable candidates are unconstitutionally kept off the ballot. The trial judge's holding that the statute is unconstitutional is not disturbed. Gov. Perry is weighing options for appeal."

Any 'Virginia voters' that would still vote for people that are too stupid to follow the same election laws that have been on the books forever are probably too stupid to vote. Not saying any of them ARE that stupid...but if they are...just sayin...

The only further appeal is to the Supreme Court, and based on the 4th Cir. opinion that seems quite unlikely.

If we are going to throw out any pretense of democracy in this process, then here is what the Republicans really ought to do to be effective.

Limit the primaries to the following ten swing states: FL, OH, PA, MI, WI, IA, MN, CO, NM, AZ

Weigh the votes of Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania voters 3:1 against the others.

All primaries are open, and no caucuses.

At the end of the primaries, have a run-off of the top 2 finalists.

If you think about it, states like Texas and California don't matter one bit. Texas will go red, and California will go blue in the general. So let the voters in the swing states pick the candidates that are most attractive to them.

That would maximize the odds of victory.
