Short NBC gig for Chelsea?

Chelsea Clinton’s much-trumpeted deal with NBC seems to be nearly done. Her contract is for only 90 days, and while she’ll provide the network with two more stories, sources say it is not certain she’ll immediately sign again.
Some sources believe Chelsea was “set up for a fall” after NBC trumpeted her deal to become a full-time special correspondent for the network in the New York Times in November.


NBC News president Steve Capus said Chelsea would work on its “Making a Difference” series on “Rock Center” and “Nightly News.” Capus told the Times, “We both want to see how this goes . . . But I hope it’s the beginning of a nice, long-term relationship.” He didn’t mention at the time it was for 90 days.

Could be, but I guess time will tell eh? People often say things when speaking to media that are 100% opposite of the actions taken in the end. Have you seen her reports? meh....My daughter could do better....Wrong last name to get in the door though....

I have to wonder if she got the job due to her own abilities, hard work and working up the ladder or did she get the job because of her parents. I suspect she got the job because of her parents. If NBC wants to pay for a name then let them.

I dont care. I mean I really really REALLY dont...but isnt this the kind of topic most liberal type folks just tear into? You know...hating the offspring of the rich and privileged getting all the opportunities because they are nothing more than born with the correct bloodlines?

Chelsea got the job for all her hard work just as did Bristol Palin did for her tv jobs.

Chelsea and Bristol are probably the two hardest working women in America.

Threads like this expose the hackery of both sides.

But at least in Chelsea's case, she presumably got the position because NBC is banking that people are interested in her view and seeing her. I doubt NBC hired her to get on Bill and Hilary's good side, or because they feel they owe those two any favors. She's a minor political celebrity in her own right. Compare that with all the boys and girls that get jobs on Wall Street based on daddy's connections. Similar, but not quite the same.

How do you feel about Liz Cheney becoming a FOXNews Contributor? James is right. Without their last names they couldn't get a job in the mail room. They would most likely be on unemployment like a lot of other college graduates their age are.

Why did he recommend her?There were probably a bunch of other people qualified for that job.

Who was a political advisor to Unka Dick Cheney when he was SecDef? Michael Powell. Oh, wait, then Colin Powell recommended Liz Cheney for her "job" as Deputy Assistant Director of the State Department! See a pattern here?

Not enough? Who was appointed Chair of the FCC by W? Michael Powell, Colin's son!

The ruling class has been screwing America! Both parties. Guess what? Most Americans will vote both parties and many of the same slime back in office. The slime know that the chance of them getting into hot water for ****ing America is damned near nonexistent. Why should they quit?
