The torrent watching website YouHaveDownloaded.com is still astounding us with its hypocrisy-revealing powers. A new search of the site, which tracks IP addresses pulling copyrighted material from a few public BitTorrent trackers, confirms that the U.S. House of Representatives is quite the hotbed of piracy at the same time it’s working to pass the much-maligned Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA).

I don't know what surprises me more:

1. [sarcasm] The House politicians being so hypocritical [/sarcasm]

2. That anyone in the House even knows how to use torrents.

Give me the power and I would crucify them in rows alongside the Washington monument to tell the world that hypocrisy and corruption will not be tolerated.

It's just kids doing it. Staffers in their 20s, bored when Congress is out of session. It's not the members themselves; they don't have time to watch movies. Not excusing it, but that's how it is.

Regardless if it is interns or not it would be nice if the news ran with this to help destroy sopa.

Ahh... yeah.. well... they're just downloading the torrents as ahh.... "Research". Yeah that's it. Research!

It is a bit like preachers using porn, isn't it?

Eitherway this reminds me, I urge you all to email your congress person and tell them to vote against SOPA. It is incredibly vital for the sake of the future of the web.

YouHaveDownloaded.com... what a joke. I just went there. Anyone who uses torrents should use a simple anonymizer, or proxy. Most torrent sites offer a proxy for you to use.

I don't really see the point of this war on the internet. The dinosaurs who want to control so-called "intellectual property" will never have total control. If the U.S. becomes tyrannical against the internet, people will just move their servers abroad.

The downloading will continue and there's nothing they can do about it.

That's not 'how it is,' that is pure speculation. All that can be said is that congressional offices are flying in the face of SOPA, and considering that it is far more than just movies you can't just pretend that it is only young staffers.
