VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- A Navy tradition caught up with the repeal of the U.S. military's "don't ask, don't tell" rule on Wednesday when two women sailors became the first to share the coveted "first kiss" on the pier after one of them returned from 80 days at sea.

Don't ask me why, but I just knew that the first openly gay kiss would come from the Navy. I heard too many Navy jokes.

Article is here.

Awesome! Good for them to be able to share that moment like any other couple being reunited after deployment.

I don't know about Jesus having two dads, but I do have a biblical question.....

Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?

of course not. and ours are only decorative, anyway.

With them being decent looking women I say it's awesome. If they were manly women I would be like bleh. If it was dudes doing that I would be uncomfortable but not give a **** either way 5 minutes later because it doesn't **** my life up.

Where are all of DADT's champions? And why didn't the ships crew mutiny after being forced to serve along side a gay individual?

Somewhere a female poster whose name begins with E, has her BVD's wrapped around her ears over this.

Hehe saw this in this mornings papers over here.. with the usual ??????????? why so much fuss comments and I agree.. /shrug. May their love be strengthened and live a long time!

This wasn't just two people sharing a kiss after a long absence. In Navy tradition, when a ship returns to port, there's a lottery to determine who will be the first sailor off the ship to kiss their loved one. The rest of the crew waits until that first kiss is over before leaving the ship. It's a big deal because this is a first in Navy tradition, not just because two people of the same gender kissed.

*edit* Not sure if that was covered in the article, I didn't actually read it. :2razz:

Too bad that sailor was in violation of Navy Regulations regarding public displays of effection.

In that circumstance it is never, ever enforced. When a ship pulls in, that is the norm, though not with same sex couples in the past.
