This year, many are looking into a brand new rifle or pistol as their top choice for Christmas, and store owners said guns of all shapes and sizes have been flying off the shelves.Jake Terry sells guns at the Tackle Box in Fort Smith, and he said the month of December has been the hottest for all types of firearms."As far as Christmas sales, we've definitely noticed an increase," Terry said.According to FBI records, background checks for prospective gun buyers have gone up by 32 percent since last year's Black Friday shopping spree. Terry said the trend has been carried out mainly by first time buyers."Everybody seems to be just a little uncertain, and it's kind of better safe than sorry. They want to buy guns and ammunition, just in case," Terry said.

I posted this in another thread, then thought it would do well to discuss this as a stand alone thread....

So, here we go...This is what Obama's administration/Presidency has wrought....Insecurity high enough that people are increasing their gun purchasing in record numbers....Great success I say....

That's weird. I thought Obama was going to take everyone's guns?!

I got my first .22 rifle as a supposed Christmas present, but I actually got it before Thanksgiving. It was a Remington Speedmaster that shoots 3 types of .22's, Shorts, Longs, and Long Rifle. I still have it, and other than some scratches, it shoots just as accuratly as the day my father gave it to me. I remember you coulld buy a gun quite easily, but you had to sign your name in a book if you bought ammo. That was back in about 1970. That is no longer a requirement. Glad they got rid of that stupid requirement.

If that scumbag didn't think it would cost him house seats or the 2012 election he would if he could. His track record as a third rate state and federal senator was marked with an almost 100% consistent anti gun right record

Yes, gun sales are up. Sales of everything else is up around Christmas too. Big deal!

He thought better of it when he realized he'd be stepping on voters' toes, you know all those red neck Democrat farmers? They are Democrats because of all the freebie farm subsidies that the Democrat party hands out. They cling to their guns, religion, and farm subsidies so they always vote Democrat no matter what.

Perhaps. Lacking your mind reading skills, however, I have to rely on the fact that, if he's done anything with respect to guns, it's been to expand gun owners' rights.

You obviously miss the point in your weak assed attempt to be clever which failed miserably.

The point is that the intent of the Obama administration is clear to actually restrict sales of guns, and interfere with the 2nd amendment right to own a firearm. People are buying now ahead of that possibility.

talk about an ostrich head in the sand response. Gun sales are way up based on previous years at this time

We all know consumption is good for the economy. So yes, it's a success.

However, we also known that homicides involving friends and relatives always spike around the holidays...hmmmm

Obastard is a crappy president but he's not stupid and he knows what happened in 1994 after the dems and some stupid republicans went along with clinton's gun ban and he knows that Al Gore going from an NRA A rated senator to an F rated candidate cost al Gore his own home state and the election

Yep. Gun sales always go up when a card carrying communist like Obama gets elected.

I have an account with Aimsurplus.com and we make monthly buys from this major league ammo dealer. I went up there to pick up an order of Russian 762X39 ammo the day after the election and the manager told me that November 2008 (a few days into the month) had already been better than the entire 2007 calendar year.

outside the warehouse was 40 pallets of such ammo-all sold within an hour of it arriving.

yet, gun ownership and the # of guns in private hands has skyrocketed since Clinton tried to impose a ban and accidental deaths and even intentional homicides have decreased.

that sort of bitch slaps your snarky little comment

Yeah, your point was so subtle that it eluded me completely.

I guess this is another liberal plot. Obama's been lulling the country to sleep by doing nothing but expanding gun owners' rights for three years, just waiting for his opportunity to strike! But the wingnuterati are not fooled!! Go now! Stockpile your ammunition before it's too late!

Take it easy bro, it was a joke.

No, this isn't what Obama's Presidency has wrought. This is what happens when ignorant people believe Obama is going to somehow take away guns.

Kudos for the increase in sales, which helps the gun sellers, but still ignorant nonetheless.

And used guns are cheap right now, due to the economy. No, head in the sand. I just don't think we should get riled up about it, Turtle.

So people exercising their rights are ignorant? Tell that to OWS.

Take it easy bro, it was a joke.

The problem is that many liberals say stupid stuff when it comes to guns that they are serious about and when they get their butts handed to them they claim it was just a joke

People like you said the same thing when clinton was elected and Clinton and gore had a far less anti gun record in their prior elected positions that Biden and Obama

It is ignorance to believe that a president would behave the same way he did when he was a senator?

I am not riled up-just well armed

its people like you who seem upset about people buying guns
