Proof positive you shouldn't mess around with people you don't know...
Mugger picks wrong victim: MMA fighter - Chicago Sun-Times

“Justin” is 6 feet 2, 250 pounds, with a build that looks like it could split open a suit jacket during a particularly violent sneeze.

But the mixed martial arts expert from Des Plaines insists it was his “training,” not brawn, that allowed him to wrench a loaded pistol from the hand of an alleged mugger who had the weapon pointed at his chest Friday night on the Southwest Side.

That is poetic justice. It was a few years back that a car jacked jumped a van with 6 judo instructors from Florida. I busted a gut reading about that one. Not one, but six judo instructors....lol

Once at my Krav Maga training gym on a Saturday morning we were doing exercises when we all happened to look out the front plate glass window. There was a parking lot most of us parked in and here came a street person walking through looking down inside the windows. Due to the reflection on the plate glass window one can't see the students inside. None of us said a word we just stopped what we were doing and watched the guy go by car after car. After looking inside some of the cars he turned and left. It was anti-climatic of course but I can't even imagine what that scenario could have been like.

Here's a great, true story. My folks lived down the street from Bill Casey when he was Director of the CIA. The people next door were out of town and there was a hot young chick (irrelevant, but still...) looking after their kids. Someone tried to break into the house when they were at home and set off the alarm. Part of Casey's SS team ran over there check it out. Imagine the look on the would-be burglar's face when four huge guys in trench coats wielding Mac-10s surrounded him.

Victims turning the tide happens more than you hear about....

Bernhard Goetz in the 80s became famous and got convicted too

25. The Subway Vigilante

In a way this made me sad, to read about such a crime, however it also made me happy that justice appears to be served (hopefully). I hope this guy gets a long sentence with enough time to change his ways. Only when he became the victim did he start taking about his baby. Sometimes such experiences, such as being on the receiving end, can change a persons life.

Awesome, I'd say that's probably a better deterent(criminals getting beat by their attempted prey) than prison!

“At that moment, he backs up the gun and he racks it,” Justin recalled. “The gun jammed. He racked it a second time. He ejected the bullet on the ground. He went down and grabbed the bullet and said, ‘Look, m-----f-----, it’s a hollow point. I’ll blow your brains out.’”

What a failure - can't even be a decent mugger.

A Double-Tap can eliminate those messy court cases afterward...

I love that movie!

True story...

Young man with .22 short revolver robbing an 81 year old clerk (actually the owner) of a convenience store. Old man says, "don't shoot, I just work here. I'll give you everything, even the money hidden in a box under the counter." The old guy instead comes up with a sawed off single shot 12 gauge firing at a range of 2 feet across the counter into the robber's gut.

While on the phone with 911, the old guy sees the robber crawling towards the door. "Hold on" the old guy says to the police operator. A few second later they record "KaBoom!" and then the old guy back on the phone. While giving the address to the police, the old guy sees the robber somehow still crawling now out the door. "Wait a minute" the old guy says... silence... "KaBoom!" straight down into the robber's back.

The robber somehow lived. Age 19. At trial, the robber did take the stand. His exactly words? "ALL I DID," he explained," was go in to get some money. And that crazy old man with that shotgun damn near killed me!"

The jury gave him 20 years.

Imagine if the gun jammed , you would most likely be shot by the mugger. It's hard to make a decision in this scenario. Give them what they want and likely be untouched however, likley have them get away with the crime (depending on the area) or shoot back, you risk getting shot yourself or your gun jamming and, well, getting shot.. Either way it would be a horrible situation to be in, it just baffles me how people can commit such horrific crimes to their fellow human beings.

It isn't hard to make that decision at all. Just blow the mother****er away. End of story, and the POS won't be robbing any more people.

Thank you Dan, I couldn't have said it better myself.

Here's to more dead robbers. :party

1. Single shot 12 gauge. There's nothing to "jam", it is the simplest firearm in existence. Darn hard to miss with at close quarters too.
2. Robber may shoot you anyway, no matter how much you cooperate. I lost a good friend that way.
3. Killing an armed robber isn't horrific, it's a service to humanity and a boon to the community. Just a few weeks ago one of my neighbors shot a burglar in the leg. The only thing we told him was "aim higher next time."

Yes, it is hard to jam a single shot shot gun. Semi shotguns another story.

Just as one should consider any gun loaded one should also consider anyone pointing a gun at you is going to shoot you.

Just the nervousness and adrenalin can cause the perp to accidentally pull the trigger and kill an innocent victim. If you pull a gun on someone you must understand there is a good chance you could get blown away.

Well its a good thing that instead of just pulling it, he used it.

Reminds me of those stories every once in awhile where you hear about some guy trying to mug or rob an former Marine (in some cases old dudes) and gets his ass pounded.

the best I heard was in Hawaii years ago where some young punks tried to mug a 70 something ESCRIMA master. when the cops showed up they reported that one of the thugs managed to fatally stab himself with his own knife and the other one managed to break both his own legs with the club he tried to hit the old man with

Or those guys who tried the rob the bar where all the off-duty cops hang out. :)

ever see Chuck Norris's code of silence? they had a scene like that

two mopes pull guns and suddenly they have 17 38 snubbies stuffed up their noses

Nice little action flick, I need to watch it again now. :)

On a lighter side of this current discussion of the mugger getting beat was an old Andy Griffith show.
It was about Barney giving a ticket to the town tough guy. The tough threatens that if he ever catches Barney out of uniform he will break every bone in his body.
So Barney is scared and begins to wear his uniform 24 hours a day.

But wise old Andy realizes the judo instructor in town is the same height as Barney.
So Andy sees the tough guy and tells him that he should be aware that Barney knows judo and as matter of fact Barney should be coming down town to pick up his suite that evening.
Sure enough the tough guy is waiting for Barney.
Andy has the judo instructor wearing Barney's suit and hat and even says goodnight to him in front of the store. The judo instructor walks down the street when the tough guy grabs him from behind.
Of course he then flips the tough guy over and performs some judo on him beating him up.

The next day Andy tells Barney he needs to confront the tough and let him know you arent scared of him. Barney nervously approaches the tough who then basically tells Barney he doesn't want to cause any trouble with him. Typical old Barney feels the power coming back to him and begins to let him know that he has to respect the badge.

It was a classic Andy Griffith.
