"Competitive Shopping" Cited in Wal-Mart Pepper Spray Attack

This is why I hate going to Wal-Mart.

She'll be charged with aggravated assault. I would not consider pepper spray a deadly weapon, though in some cases it has been found to cause blindness. In which case, if it did, she would also likely get sued for medical expenses, etc.
It has also caused deaths. But there're specific definitions for "deadly" in deadly weapon. IDk what Ca's definition is.

mobs showcase some of the worst aspects of humanity.

there are better ways to do these sales, but it would be less profitable. the model seems to be unloading a limited amount of excess product as a loss leader in hopes that those who don't get to it first will buy something else to make themselves feel better. a way to avoid the mobs rushing electronics might be to hand out tickets for the top items while people are in line, but then those who didn't get the ticket would probably just leave or riot anyway.

eventually, some store is going to get its pants sued off over an injury.

Yeah, I prefer The Dollar Store .. I mean, you don't have to get all dressed up to go to The Dollar Store like you do for Wal-Mart.

And it is a great place to pick up chicks!

Let's see; more than likely she's guilty of the following (at least).....

Possession of an Illegal Weapon (pepper spray requires a permit in CA)
Assault & Battery with a Weapon
Leaving the Scene of a Crime
Disturbing the Peace

There are probably a couple dozen other things she could be charged with as well. The first two charges on that list are FELONIES.

I think these inane black friday deals do exactly that.

I agree you have to be insane to go out at 5am on Black Friday, but that does not give someone else the right to Pepper Spray you in order to get the item you're reaching for. Of course my reaction to such stupidity would have been quick, decisive, and permanent. I'd have shot the bitch on the spot, and unloaded every round I had on me into her, long after she was dead.

The wonderful thing about Tiggers Is Tiggers are wonderful chaps

BTW, after the scuffle, shopping went on as usual.

People are nutz.

Apparently they haven't caught her, but if she used her charge card for the XBox she bought, she's toast.

Let's hear some outrage here -- what's she guilty of? Attempted murder? Assault with a deadly weapon? Let's publish her name and address on the internet and vow vengeance!!

She's guilty of acting like a monkey instead of a human. What crime? Not sure. Maybe disorderly conduct and sheer stupidity which isn't a crime else all those Black Friday shoppers would be in trouble.

She's shopping at Walmart, she probably doesn't have anywhere near the money to pay the medical expenses. Probably has negative net worth due to consumer credit. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised at all if people sued the Walmart store in that situation.

Oh, God. Here comes another Kaching! Moment.

What negligent act of WalMart's caused these people to get pepper sprayed? Or doesn't it make any difference...No such thing as random acts?

Doesn't matter if Walmart did anything. People sue whoever has money.

What on earth would possess someone to go shopping on Black Friday. THE SALES ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE.

This kind of stuff is completely unacceptable. So far we are one day into the official christmas rush and we have a grandfather tackled because he was mistaken for a shoplifter because his grandson was being crushed by fellow shoppers and he was trying to save him, we have this idiot committing at least aggravated battery with a can of pepper spray over a ****ing game, and an innocent shopper shot for refusing to give up the gifts he bought. Seriously people need to get a clue and need a major refresher course on class.

Actually those are major examples of a need for what I'm going to call 'de-urbanization'.

You stuff more and more people into a limited space (city, freeway, or Wal-Mart) and the frustration-induced violence will bloom. Sometimes it will take hold and lead to riot. The mere concept of mega-stores and mega-cities should be discouraged.

This wasn't about frustration; it was about greed and barbarism.

Can "class" be taught?

At least parenting classes can be taught, which is why I hope that the ubiquitous cameras will end up identifying the pepper-spraying woman, who had her kids with her.

So i was at Wal-mart last night among other places(went with my aunt's, uncle, and mom) and it just seems like Walmart wants people to fight, and get hurt. Atleast where I was at, they had things stacked up on pallets, and people would stand around them and wait for them to actually go on sale, and then people would just pile on them, and go at it. It was crazy, and the other stores just weren't like that. Not surprising stuff like this happens.
