CBO: Stimulus hurts economy in the long run

A good leader does not live in a fantasy world. Everyone knew that the next president would face challenges unprecedented since WWII. Most Americans understand that his performance has to be judged in that context. People understood it in 2008:

Next president confronts staggering to-do list - USATODAY.com

The next President will have the Obama mess to clean up but that next President will have the leadership skills to do it. You voted for someone totally lacking in leadership skills and total lack of ability to problem solve. The results speak for themselves. If you should ever get a management position you would understand leadership responsibility. Obama has none.

The next president will have to deal with what is left. The slate is never completely clean when one takes over. Do you doubt this?

What will be left is a net job loss, declining labor force with a growing population, and over 16 trillion dollar debt.

Yep, much like what he took over. This **** is hard to fix quickly. But don't worry, if it is a republican, you'll be more forgiving. :doh:lamo

Spoken like a true liberal, debt doesn't seem to matter and the more people dependent on the govt. the better chance for Obama to get re-elected. You could give Obama a decade and his lack of leadership skills would be the same and his results would be a disaster like they are now.

The Tonopah Solar company in Harry Reid's Nevada is getting a $737 million loan from Obama's DOE.
The project will produce a 110 megawatt power system and employ 45 permanent workers.
That's costing us just $16 million per job.

The PCG executive director is Ron Pelosi who is the brother of Nancy's husband.

Stimulus failure

Review & Outlook:Why the Stimulus Failed - WSJ.com

Obama wanted the job, campaigned for 2 years prior to the election to get it, said he could do the job and has failed miserably.

Our growth rate has gone from -9% to +2%....

How is that a failure?

What America has to wake up and smell is the executive branch is one man and a bunch of agencies--mostly regulatory and law enforcement.

THEY ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. THEY WERE PUT IN PLACE BEFORE HE GOT THERE.

ALL HE IS ALLOWED TO DO BY LAW IS ASK FOR A BUDGET TO RUN THOSE AGENCIES.

HE CAN RECOMMEND A LEGISLATIVE AGENDA AND PUSH FOR VOTES, BUT HE DOES NOT WRITE LEGISLATION (despite what fox news tells you)

The problem is the big domed shape building cross town. They approve the budget. They write the tax code. They spend your money.

Isn't it amazing how Bush is judged by one year in office, a year where Democrats controlled the purse strings and the legislative process? How did Obama inherit that which he helped create? You want four more years of this and please note the numbers posted are current through October 2011, almost three years into his term?

Doesn't look like you understandwhat taxes fund what.

Ike managed it pretty well with 90% federal funding so I guess we could manage the same. He set up the "National System of Interstate Highways,"but was at a loss for a way to fund it. My way that’s not a problem.

Why the focus on tax rates and not who is paying FIT?

Who gives a **** who pays FIT.

So, tax success unfairly, then bitch later how no one successful stays in America...duh.

j-mac

Duh...didn’t see any mass exodus of wealthy United States taxpayers during the gipper years.

What was the effective tax rate under Ike? You think it was 90%? What was the budget during Ike's term? You think we need a 3.7 trillion dollar Federal govt?

As for the highways they aren't funded by FIT so learn what your taxes actually pay for

"Who gives a **** who pays FIT?

Spoken like a true liberal, almost 50% of income earners don't pay any FIT and you don't have a problem with that?

That's only because so many have fallen below the line. If you want more paying in, strengthen the middle class.

A better way would be a flat tax where everyone that earns income pays something

No, that would be just a way to make it harder on the least of us and easier on those with the most. And that type of thinkng has gotten us to where we are now.

Hardly, it would require everyone to have "skin in the game!" Isn't that what Obama is calling for? What skin in the game do people who don't pay any FIT have?

Yep, much like what he took over. This **** is hard to fix quickly.

REALLY???? Suprised...It appears that you and Conservative are not so far apart...I think based on YOUR statement above you and he could agree that BHO has done nothing hence it looks 'much like what he took over'...???

Lets take it one step at a time shall we?

You posted this (Just goes to show how ineffecient the govt.) in post #124, in reply to my post #123, where I said this (We should double up on the stimulus and put it into rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure.)

My referencing the interstate system was that 90% of it was federal money, now that you have the gist of what I was meaning see if you can keep up.

It would help if you could master the quote button.

Are you ever going to recognize that FIT do not fund the highway system? Just as I thought, you don't have a clue what the tax dollars fund?

Duh...didn’t see any mass exodus of wealthy United States taxpayers during the gipper years.

Take a good look at what is going on in NY, MD, MI, along with the host of other states taxing the **** out of the wealthy. They are leaving just as I did three years ago.

But the bottom line you have to explain is if the Bush tax cuts were so ruinous, then why did revenue go up during his terms?

If you got the impression that I was worried about what federal dollars fund, I’m sorry. My main concern when I posted this (We should double up on the stimulus and put it into rebuilding our crumbling infrastructure) was creating jobs and putting the unemployed back to work.

My way of doing that would mean that the only people whose real wages have gone up over the last decade should pay the lions share. That tax increase, combined with budget cuts should do the job.

If you don’t think that the rebuilding of the interstates is the way to go about it lets have your ideas of where we should put the money. How about a high-speed rail system from New York to Miami? Lets go big time when we get them to Miami, lets put them on another high speed to Orlando and Disney world. Whathehell!! Its only money.

Where did the first $800 Billion go? I thought that was supposed to go toward that? Shovel ready and all...

Double up on the stimulus? Obama has added 4.4 trillion to the debt with the stimulus he implemented along with other programs. How much debt is acceptable to you? Please tell me how promoting redistribution of wealth creates incentive to create jobs and individual wealth?

The answer to our economy is to recognize first it is private sector driven, second that individual responsibility exists thus consequences for failure, third, social engineering isn't the role of the Federal govt. Obama doesn't understand that reality.

As it turned out, saving the unions and their pension funds was Obama's definition of shovel ready

Well, they need more...It is an election year after all, they need the money to funnel back into Obama's campaign so they can buy their guy again. I mean if it paid off that good in a first term, imagine what they can steal in a second term....

Exactly right, the more union jobs, the more union dues and thus more campaign contributions for Obama
