Over the past ten days, more than a dozen cities have moved to evict "Occupy" protesters from city parks and other public spaces. As was the case in last night's move in New York City, each of the police actions shares a number of characteristics. And according to one Justice official, each of those actions was coordinated with help from Homeland Security, the FBI and other federal police agencies. The official, who spoke on background to me late Monday evening, said that while local police agencies had received tactical and planning advice from national agencies, the ultimate decision on how each jurisdiction handles the Occupy protests ultimately rests with local law enforcement.According to this official, in several recent conference calls and briefings, local police agencies were advised to seek a legal reason to evict residents of tent cities, focusing on zoning laws and existing curfew rules. Agencies were also advised to demonstrate a massive show of police force, including large numbers in riot gear. In particular, the FBI reportedly advised on press relations, with one presentation suggesting that any moves to evict protesters be coordinated for a time when the press was the least likely to be present
The FBI has so far failed to respond to requests for an official response, and of the 14 local police agencies contacted in the past 24 hours, all have declined to respond to questions on this issue.

Advising them to find some legal reason to kick out the protesters... Good ol democracy... Great job feds!! Cities were advised by Department Of Homeland Security and FBI to look for reasons to evict OWS- such as zoning and curfew laws. They were also advised to show massive force and to evict at times when the press was least likely to be present.

The government is scared of the Occupy Wall Street movement because we can actually change the way the world works. We have enough people, the analysis and the will, to cripple industry until corporations meet our demands. This frightens them into a frenzy.

So Obama was behind it. Go figure. He saw no way to explaoit it for political gains so he decided to take actions before things get even uglier.

It will be interesting to see how this works for him.

How is Obama behind this? Do you have any evidence of that?

Nobody likes lawless frenzies. That's what most of these Occupy movements have become. They need to organize -- not camp out. If the only support they have for their convictions is pitching a tent and having a slumber party, they're doomed.

How is camping in an area, and then getting up to march in a unifying force not "organized"?

They need one single voice. Media people who hammer home their cogent points. Let's look at the latest media communiques from Occupy Oakland:

As for the plaza, there are about a dozen police in the area making sure no one pitches a tent. There is also a lone demonstrator up in a tree.

:rofl What???

Zachary Running Wolf is sitting atop a small wooden platform, tied to the tree, and is being largely ignored by police for the time being. Police Chief Howard Jordan said at a morning news conference that police are leaving him be as they look into what his legal rights are to be there. Monday morning, he could be heard shouting from the tree, "This is native land. I'm not coming down."

Running Wolf is a familiar name in the East Bay, where he has run for City Council in Berkeley and was involved in the lengthy tree-sit at the University of California at Berkeley several years ago to protest the removal of a grove of trees to make way for a new sports training center.
A protester on the ground nearby who identified himself as "Fireball" said Running Wolf represents the encampment's "best defense" right now

"The cops can't get into the trees," he said. Fireball said Running Wolf has enough food and water to last several days.

Me thinks they just jumped the shark.

You can't change the way the world works. That is hubristic to the extreme.

The government is not scared of losers who camp out in city parks.

If all these people did was protest then cities across the country would not be trying to kick these people out the parks. If you notice that when the republicans had their tea party protests no one was trying to kick them out.Do you know why no one was trying to kick them out? It was because they did not camp out in parks, annoy the **** out burger king employees and customers, throw trash cans through Starbucks windows, Bogart public spaces, turn public spaces into **** holes or increase the crime rate. If all the OWS did was every day protest and go home at the end of the day, no one would be trying to remove these people.Especially if the OWS was considerate and let other people use the parks before returning or not take up the whole park.

So the "FEDS" you refer to means people in the federal government that you don't like? But if you like them, or if they are a democrat then they are excluded from the "FED" title despite being part of the federal government.

Re: Update: 'Occupy' crackdowns coordinated with federal law enforcement officials

I find it ironic that people will still call OWS a liberal movement despite the fact that a liberal Federal government is working against it.

Don't kid yourselves. The Fed has been watching this movement from day one and has been giving instruction down to the county levels on what to do. Obama even recalled soldiers from Iraq. They're prepared for this to explode, and it's going to.

Yes, that is why the federal gov agencies told the cities to find any excuse to get them out....

The Tea Party wasnt occupying cities around the world for 2 straight month though.... This is much bigger than the Tea Party.

No i dont like Obama or really am a huge fan of the "feds".. Im just not trying to put blame on someone where there is no proof...

Re: Update: 'Occupy' crackdowns coordinated with federal law enforcement officials

The federal government aided these cities in how to legally evict these campers. It didn't tell the cities to evict them.

The republicans didn't wear their welcome out. If they tossed trash cans through starbucks windows, camped out at parks 24/7 and bogarted public spaces so that others can not use them, create crime cesspools in the parks and all sorts of other nonsense then the local governments would have cracked down on them. If these oocu-tards did protest and went home every day then no one would be trying to kick them out from the parks. If you let someone stay at your house and they **** on the floor, hog your tv and computer, knock furniture over, and not clean up after themselves then you are going to kick them out. The Occu-tards fail to realize this.If you don't wear your welcome out then people will not mind you coming back.

So they are scared?

Who was scared?

You mean Obama is so ****ing retarded that he doesn't know what his Federal law enforcement agencies are up?

Do you find as amazing as I do, that Obama is never responsible for anything bad that happens?

So let me get this straight.. Sense Obama is president=everything the federal gov does is his fault..
Do you realize how many people are in the federal gov?
You do realize that the executive branch employs around 1.8 million civilian employees + the President and VP's staffs + political apointees...

If these losers want to make an impact, they should hire some respectable people who actually understand the issue they thinking they're protesting, and crawl back into their holes with the rest of the dregs of society.

They're embarassing themselves. Nothing more. And we're missing an excellent chance to cull the human herd.

Occu-tards? Really?

I'm just curious. Who would these people be that they hire?

Not people that aren't looking for jobs, and that typically complain about their situation rather than working on self improvement. For starters. Hell, I'd rather see them volunteering and doing something constructive rather than ****ting everything up, costing more taxpayer money, all without having any measurable political impact other than putting a strain in governmnet services and private citizens trying to go about their lives. What is it they want again? Bozos.

I agree that many of their claims are nothing more than the whining of ignorant youth. I can dismiss that for what it is.

I still hope that the Tea Party and OWS do not stop.

No kidding. I'd like to see some Somalians protest these people as the top 1 percenters, which by comparison they are. It's always relative.

What I meant was, there is obviously a corruption in Wall Street that has contributed to the economic downturn, but that corruption is directly related to the big goverment, unions, and liberals that support them. I don't see them dancing around outside the Solyndra offices.
