Occupy Oakland: City braces for general strike

It may or may not. But it is a necessary right of the People, of the individual. And thus we must uphold it to its maximum.
They have their rights, right up to the tip of my nose. The moment they violate any of MY rights, is the moment they lose that right.

Shotgun - $500.00
Ammo - $10.00
Sight of anarchists pissing themselves and running like the chicken s#!ts they are! - Priceless
Developer with shotgun scared off Oakland rioters

Not really priceless, really a pain in the ass. He said himself he doesn't want to be forced to do that again. Our taxpayer dollars are supposed to afford us the freedom to pursue business interests without law breaking vandalism and mob violence, trespassing, etc. Get your priorities straight cities, or the people who pay your bills will do it for you. Governments need to crack down hard on these ass-hats, and not worry about the faux cries of "facism".

So the police police the police? In certain degrees yes, so long as they don't all start acting out. Ultimately the ones who police the police are the same as the ones who govern the government...We the People.

Do you really believe that?

If the government and the police turned on 'the people" they would be screwed. What makes it all work is respect for the rights of others, and as that is being eroded. This "We, the people" dream will be history. In fact the President has been working on dividing the country for quite some time, and succeeding quite well apparently.

This is one of the problems I see with unions of today. They seriously don't care who gets hurt, as long as they get what they want. This is a partisian thing, nothing more. Unions are primarily democratic; this particular protestors are primarily democratic.

I don't care if people want to protest. But when they start breaking the law, preventing others from earning the money to feed their own families, and pelting police officers with objects that can maim and kill, then they get no sympathy from me when they are herded off the public streets in a stampede of tear gas and rubber bullets.

Now they want to close down the city. Great. I'm sure in this economy everyone can afford to do just that. Solidary, bro'. You can eat and pay the mortgage later.

These people are breaking the law in order to protest against people who might be breaking the law.

The OWS are as stupid a group of people as I've yet seen gathered together in one place.

Psst..I think that's the "quit offshoring our jobs" part of OWS's message.

Yes, this should encourage more jobs and investment in Oakland.

Keep it up, Bozos. Ports at Seatac and in Canada can use the extra business.

They are of the People, and have the same rights as all the People. Including association and protest. The fact that some cheer government force against such rights I find saddening and dangerous.

They are all "the people", and have the same right to protest against those OWS idiots who are taking their rights away. If they are breaking the law, and it's clear they are, then their rights extend only to the reading of Miranda.
