The right wing doesn't like the OWS protests very much.

PORTLAND — Occupy Maine protesters say Sunday morning's attack with a chemical explosive has left them with a mixture of anxiety and resolve.

"We are more motivated to keep doing what we're doing," said Stephanie Wilburn, of Portland, who was sitting near where the chemical mixture in a Gatorade bottle was tossed at 4 a.m. Sunday. "They have heard us and we're making a difference."

Wilburn said she was startled and briefly lost hearing in her left ear when the device exploded beneath a table about 10 feet away. Wilburn's hearing returned and police said no injuries were reported.

Portland police Sgt. Glen McGary said the bomb was thrown into the camp’s kitchen, a tarped area where food is cooked and served. Protest organizers said the explosion lifted a large table about a foot off the ground.

"There was no fire . . . We had a good 20 feet of thick smoke rolling out from under the table," Wilburn said. They could see the "G" on the 24-ounce bottle and its orange cap, as well as bits of silver metal, she said.

how do you know it was anyone from the right wing?

Wouldn't be surprised to find out it was a cops tear gas gernade and they arrest some sap with a gatoraid bottle.

Media blames the TEA party in an attempt to divide what was always just THE PEOPLE in 3, 2, 1...

pbrauer,

Thanks for posting this information, but until you know exactly who threw the homemade explosive device you can't blame Republicans for this. By all accounts this could easily just be some teenagers who thought they could get away with what they thought was a harmless prank. By all accounts, no one was injured (Thanks God), but such an act could simply be the result of young punks with no political affiliation out for kicks.

Regardless of who is to blame, I hope the local police catch the sons-of-bi***.

completely unacceptable behavior from whomever perpetrated this.

here's to hoping law enforcement is on the ball and gets their man.. or woman.

it said in the article that there was a car circling the block moments before it happened and that the people in it were shouting "Get a job." and calling them communists etc.

So it was probably politiclaly motivated whoever did it.

But they will catch those maniacs soon I hope.

Someone drops a bong...a minimeth lab goes bad, and all of a sudden people are freakin out...

Say...this speculation thing is FUN!

It was probably Obama or one of the dems trying to clear things out before their next $5k a plate fundraiser with the banks and brokers...

Silver metal? Probably aluminum. It's likely something like aluminum foil and Drain-O.

That being said, it's pretty sad that people can't respect the right to assemble and protest. Likely it is politically motivated, but we'll have to wait to see if they can figure out who threw it.

Sorry, PB, but you damn well know one asshole committing a crime hardly represents 160 million Americans. Let's try to keep a little bit of honesty in the debate, shall we? Some idiot did a stupid, stupid thing. I hope they're caught and dealt with in accordance with the law. He does not represent me or (I'm guessing) most of those who think the OWS movement is a waste of time and a misdirection of energy (the premise is valid, the means in which they are trying to make changes?? kind of ineffective long term, and probably very, very costly to to govt, and working Americans by proxy).

Also, from the same article:

Acting Police Chief Michael Sauschuck said today that detectives don't necessarily believe Occupy Maine was the sole target because another device was set off elsewhere that night. He described the device as the type often associated with teenage pranks. But he said police are taking it seriously because someone could've been hurt.

It would be ironic if it were republicans, for all the times they said, "Don't violate my rights!!!"

because as Tessa points out...the actions of one or two bad actors equal the actions of "the republicans"...

Good.

And that's true!

These people don't equal all Republicans.

So now that we've established that let's also establish that.

A few guys holding racist signs at Tea Party Rally's doesn't mean that the Tea Party is racist.

A few whacky guys committing terrorist acts don't represent all Christians or Muslims.

A few cretins holding anti-Semitic signs doesn't represent all OWS protesters.

Thank you.

I must have missed the signs...were they playing on the stereotype that Jewish people are always involved in finances?

Trollers gonna troll

Well, I mean...those signs aren't so bad. It's conspiracy theory crap, but hardly overly offensive. I was expecting, "Let's go Hitler on Wall St. millionaires" or something about ovens. I'm actually pleasantly surprised that these signs are as mild as they are.

Tell that to the right Wing Media.

I guess they aren't that terrible but they're still idiocy on full display and it's currently being used by right wing media and fox news to portray all liberals or all protestors as anti-semites, all the while complaining about liberals saying that all tea-partiers are racist cause they have a photo with a guy holding a sign, lol.

A few bad apples in every bunch.

I'm seriously missing out on a lot. I don't watch FoxNews, MSNBC, CNN, etc....unless they're airing a debate.

It wasn't a shot at you, you don't strike me as someone that watches Glenn Beck in your bunker with your gun collection and cans of Tuna.

It's just some of the right wing media is pulling the same tactics that were used against the Tea Party to make it seem racist...

It's stupid both way it happens, everyones going to have their nuts and I think the Tea Party has some good points and I think the OWS has some good points and legitimate grievances.

Not that I would endorse either because I find alot of it misguided.
