Will Obama demand the leaders of thie movement disavow the many ant-Semitic remarks made by attendees, as he demanded GOP candidates disavow the booing of the question as to whether DADT will be repealed?

Don't hold your breath.

LAUSD Teacher Fired after Anti-Semitic Comment on Camera | FOX 11 News

Los Angeles - A Los Angeles substitute teacher was fired by the school district after making an Anti-Semitic comment on camera at an "Occupy LA" event.

Patricia MacCallister, who told us she's not with the "Occupy" movement but believes in the philosophy, was seen in a Reason.tv video interview on October 12th.

In that interview, she said: "I think that the Zionist Jews that are running these big banks and the Federal reserve, which is not run by the federal government, need to be run out of this country."

Isn't the Zionist bankers/end the fed thing traditionally a FAR RIGHT thing?

And no, the movement is backing no politicians, no politicians are being allowed to glom on at this point.

Now if she said it right in front of him on live tv and he failed to do say anything about it?

THEN you'd have an accurate comparison to snivel about.

No, it seems Jew hating is OWS thing.

The politicians are backing the movement.

Jew haters and all.

<------- OWS supporter married to a Jew, therefore contradicting (equally ridiculously) your "OWS is antisemitic" meme based on one whackjob conspiracy nut. If all it takes is one hater to indict, then I am the reasonable counterargument of one OWS-supporting Jew-lover.

I bet if she were white and complained about, "niggers collecting welfare", you wouldn't be making excuses for her.

Garbage! Just because the mag adbusters dared to draw an analogy between the Nazi occupation of Europe with the Israeli occupation of Palestine does not make it anti-Semitic. Decrying the Israeli occupation of Palestine is not anti-Semitic, it is a legitimate policy position.

The anti-Semitic smear of the RW on OWS will not stand, as it is false prima facia, excepting that idiot reason.tv interviewed...

<-------------Black Conservative and I'm still a racist tea bagger.

I make NO EXCUSES for her abject stupidity, which is plainly obvious... but you can't taint a movement with just one idiot.

Even MSNBC won't embarass themsevles by igoring it.

Martin Bashir Russell Simmons | Anti-Semitism OWS | Video | Mediaite

On MSNBC this afternoon, Martin Bashir spoke with hip hop mogul Russell Simmons about the Occupy Wall Street movement and challenged the Def Jam co-founder over whether there were vocal anti-Semitic sentiments permeating the protest. “There’s been some reporting that anti-Semitism has begun to emerge and…” Bashir began. Simmons incredulously interrupted, “Can you repeat that?!”

The interview had initially begun amicably, with Bashir asking multiple softball questions before completely gobsmacking Simmons.

“Well, anti-semitism,” Bashir repeated.

“Can you repeat that?” asked a mystified Simmons. “Where’d you get that from — Bill O’Reilly or somebody?”

“No, let me show you,” Bashir said. “A group called the Emergency Committee For Israel has released this advert, watch this.”

Bashir played the group’s political ad which juxtaposed footage of President Obama and Nancy Pelosi making supportive statements of the protest with a compilation of anti-Semitic incidents that occurred in Zuccotti Park: “Jews are pro-Wall Street!” shouts one. “You’re a bum Jew.” Another sneers, “The small ethnic Jewish population in this country, they have a firm grip on America’s media.”

A slight problem is also that many Jews in America also happen to operate under the left of the spectrum. Also, you're likely to find far fewer making these sort of comments than other generic leftist comments.

<-------------Black Conservative and I'm still a racist tea bagger.

Ahhh! But I'm a teabagger too, in one sense or another - Ron Paul is my man... but OWS is on point too. And for the record I (for one) never bought the teaparty = racist smear either.

Well, I see this is the state of political discourse in the US today... Tarnish a group (teaparty, OWS, whatever) with racist or other hateful quotes, and sink it without adressing any of its core assertions... sad, but hard to defend.

The reason it is an impossible technique to defend rhetorically is because YES: 3 or more people who support OWS are also anti-semites, just as 3 or more tea partiers are racists.

This makes for a wonderful distraction that serves as a foil for redirecting the real substantive issues (US debt death spiral for TP, 99% vs 1% for OWS) to idiotic politics of identity.

I don't blame the system, it's only natural, but I am left to wonder if this US citizenry is capable of ever forming a coherent polity again, or are we destined to the fractured shards of identity politics?

Distraction, my ass. Every time someone takes a microphone down to one of these things it just flows like pee.

Uh, yeah! On point to get lost in the woods. :lamo

Sometimes it seems like were having a thoughtful conversation... but then sometimes it seems like you're not really considering what I've said at all. Also, your overuse of the pronoun "it" makes it difficult to tell what exactly "flows like pee."

Knowing you as well as I do, I'm fairly sure you didn't support the federal bailout of AIG or GM... don't overlook that part of the OWS message.

Let's stay on topic why OWS can't shake this Jew hating thing.

Or, is this where you make like Marge Schott and you say, "They have the right idea, but they are going to far?"

On topic might also include: should this idiot have been fired? Maybe, maybe not. I'm sure I espouse some ideas my employer wouldn't appreciate, but they're my business, aren't they? If this loon kept her lunacy out of her classroom and stuck to clearly proscribed curriculum... what has she done wrong to deserve getting fired?

I get it. You need to be tolerant of that point of view because it enables you to to build up a critical mass to solve some other problems.

So you have shown a degree of sophistication I truly appreciate... yes- any grassroots mass movement must have some degree of tolerance for the superstitious, ethnocentric, or historical idiocy that is necessarily a part of the mass mobilization of people. In other words, the "great unwashed" are stupid. For example, according to a 2006 survey, there are 220 times as many Americans who can name all of the Simpsons than can name the 5 freedoms outlined in the 1st amendment (0.1%).

If you represent the 99%, you have to understand that you represent a lot of uninformed, misguided people.

What is the total combined number of hours of raw tape? From that what is the time of anti-Semitism comments aired from the raw tape, sound and video? You don't know, do you? You don't have a freaking clue! So what you are saying is baseless, not valid, incorrect. On top of that, how do you know the people that are aired on radio and television making anti-Semitic statements are part of OWS and are not agents provocateur planted to make dumbass statements so the likes of you will get all huffy and start making massive assumptions about something that you can't ****ing prove and has little basis in fact since OWS began.

Are there anti-semites out there? Sure, and those people live to make ignorant statements so that short fuse people who roam the world looking for anti-Semitic statements.

The OWS movement is not about religion or ethnicity. Stop trying to make it something that it is clearly not.

Historically, spewing anti banker hate and Jew hate have never been more than a breath away from each other.

Then, as now.

<sigh> I though for a moment you were a bit more thoughtful than it would appear you are.... yes yes, carry on... OWS is nothing but a bunch of Jew-haters... Nevermind the substantive issues. go back to your sound bite world of IQ 80 gotcha politics.

Isn't it really part of the narrative of the Jews throughout history? The narrative (accurate or no) is that Jews controlled the money way back still in biblical times and one could count Jesus as the first OWS protestor when he drove out the money changers and merchants from the Temple. Throughout history into the 20th Century Jews were seen to be the rich, the powerful holding much influence and indeed, there are many lawyers, doctors, and educated jewish men and women in Hollywood and other very affluent portions of society. That there are anti-semitic portions of OWS who are vocally anti-jew isn't surprising at all. It FITS the narrative (though I'm certainly not agreeing with it), and such a view has permeated society in Europe and portions of America (especially the fringe political and societal) for a very very long time. Jew hating in the ME has been there for a very long time, more so since 1948. Europe more so since WWII, but in America it's been pockets of fringe groups and I wouldn't say it's widespread in America. It might actually be a fallacy that OWS just made that falls into that narrative... banks are at fault, the jews are rich bankers, therefore jews are at fault.

Very simplistic but it certainly fits.... that much of the Jewish population are Liberal in America makes it even more complicated.
