Iran accused over Washington terror plot

Some analysts skeptical of alleged Iranian plot

U.S. officials say they are certain the bizarre plot against Ambassador Adel Jubeir was real.

But some analysts say they are not. They find it unlikely that the Iranian government, or legitimate factions within, would be involved in such a tangled plot.

They cite five reasons why:

1. The alleged plot doesn't fit Iran's style

4. Iran is gaining in stature and isn't desperate for drastic measures

I wouldn't jump too fast to accept things not nailed down. It wouldn't be the first time we've seen misinformation too easily accepted as true.

Have you seen the books popular with conservatives now-a-days? Every Beck, Coulter, Hannity, O'Reily (to be fair not near as much) book that is on the best seller list basically is 100's of pages just demonizing the left.

The one that amazed me the most is Coulters book "Demonic" which is a whole book demonizing the left based on people on the left demonizing others.

I agree........ Conservatives should follow lib's and publish good, kind, and uplifting books that don't demonize others...........kinda like Al Franken's book "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot".

Is that what you had in mind ???? Maybe Coulter is trying to follow in Fanken's footsteps by writing a book that demonizes the opposition as a ticket to a Senate seat.

Well you see I suppose the problem with your logic here is that Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot, although personally I wouldn't have added the word "****ing" between fat and idiot but I'm not sure that the publishers would have been too happy about that.

But while we're on the subject here's some of Ann Coulters titles that definitely help to create a conducive political environment where discourse is discussed in a calm and courteous manner.

I liked your post because I agree. It happens on both sides. I fall into that trap as much as anybody else. It should be pointed out on this board when people make broad generalizations and straw man arguments. It's not valid arguments.

I would like to point out some of those mentioned have made a complete career on demonization of the opposition.

I have no intention of defending Coulter's comments. She is as over the top as Franken, but she isn't a U.S. Senator.

Put those comments in their actual context and you would see that it was more sarcasm, used to prove a point, than anything else.

I'm all about differing opinions, but as far as Ann Coulter goes I'd rather attempt to induce an enema on Helen Thomas then read a boom written by that psychotic, brainless right wing zombie.

Finally, if Iran had succeeded, what would they have gotten out of it? How would it have furthered their interests? The plot would have been investigated and would have been linked back to Iran, thus they could have had Saudi Arabia and Israel wanting to attack them and everyone knows that if Israel attacks Iran, America is right there with them. Thus you'd have the world's superpower (US), a regional superpower (Israel), and a major regional power (Saudi Arabia) all bombing the crap out of your country. While the Iranian government may act crazy, they aren't stupid. Thus, I have to wonder why Iran would even do this. (Please note that I am not saying its impossible, but it looks a bit strange is all.)
