Fast and Furious weapons were found in Mexico cartel enforcer's home
Guns illegally purchased under the ATF operation were found in April hidden in violence-plagued Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, court records show.

By Richard A. Serrano, Washington Bureau

October 8, 2011, 8:46 p.m.
Reporting from Washington—
High-powered assault weapons illegally purchased under the ATF's Fast and Furious program in Phoenix ended up in a home belonging to the purported top Sinaloa cartel enforcer in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, whose organization was terrorizing that city with the worst violence in the Mexican drug wars.

In all, 100 assault weapons acquired under Fast and Furious were transported 350 miles from Phoenix to El Paso, making that West Texas city a central hub for gun traffickers. Forty of the weapons made it across the border and into the arsenal of Jose Antonio Torres Marrufo, a feared cartel leader in Ciudad Juarez, according to federal court records and trace documents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The smugglers' tactics — quickly moving the weapons far from ATF agents in southern Arizona, where it had been assumed they would circulate — vividly demonstrate that what had been viewed as a local problem was much larger. Six other Fast and Furious guns destined for El Paso were recovered in Columbus, N.M.

Worse news for Holder:

GOP calls for Holder’s resignation intensify

Way to spend that American Recovery and Reinvestmant Act up. Making the taxpayers pay for guns to cartels....

DOJ Press Release - Justice Department Announces Success In Battle Against Firearms Trafficking And Recovery Act Funds To Build On Project Gunrunner
HOUSTON — Deputy Attorney General David W. Ogden and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Acting Director Kenneth E. Melson today announced the results of ATF’s Gun Runner Impact Team (GRIT) initiative, a 120-day deployment of ATF resources to the Houston Field Division to disrupt illegal firearms trafficking by Mexican drug cartels. The Justice Department officials also outlined the $10 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds that have been allocated to support the initiative going forward.

ATF Online - Firearms - Programs - Project Gunrunner
In response, ATF implemented Project Gunrunner in 2006 as a comprehensive strategy to reduce firearms and explosives related violent crime associated with Mexican criminal organizations operating in the U.S. and Mexico by preventing these organizations from unlawfully acquiring and trafficking firearms and explosives.

Project Gunrunner’s objective is to deny Mexican drug cartels the “tools of the trade,” which they employ to murder rival drug traffickers, civilians, as well as political, military, and law enforcement figures in order to strengthen their grip on the lucrative drug and firearms routes into and out of the United States.
So in order to keep guns out of the hands of said above people they hand the same thousands of guns.... *cough* BULL**** *cough*

America. Defund the ATF. Just scrap the whole damn thing.

He'll resign - he'll be too detrimental to the Obama re-election campaign if he sticks around. I say by Jan 1 he's outa here if he's gonna get thrown under the bus.

I'm not so sure. I think he's arrogant enough that he thinks he can talk his way out of this.

Word smithing and detouring attention by telling partial truths should not be stood for. People need to go to prison over this.

Welcome to the era of zero responsability. People at the top need to be held accountable for what goes on below them.
