Koch Brothers Flout Law With Secret Iran Sales

FOX does a pretty good job of bashing themselves. FOX, the news channel of those who do not want to think for themselves. If FOX did not exist, Jon Stewart would have nothing to make fun of.

Was that enough or do I need to come up with more?

Hmmm...Who should people get their news from? MSNBC? Amy Goodman? HA!

I wonder why Bloomberg didn't do an article on G.E., who was charged with the same offense by the Securities and Exchange Commission??? Could it be that they ignored G.E. because they are an Obama favorite child ???
Corporations bribing someone? Ehh, care-o-meter is low. American corporations bypassing laws to deal with Iran? Very newsworthy.

Just did a 20 minute check of FoxNews site. Could not find this story. Took less that five minutes to find it on all the other US MSM sites (I was surprised it was not easier to find on those sites - all, but left-wing media seems to want to bury this story)

Here is another story you won't be seeing on FoxNews: BBC News - Nobel prize for economics awarded to two Americans
The reason? These two economists go the award for proving that the economic interventions that Obama has been pushing and GOP has been obstructing work.

I think a lot of companies that do business in developing countries take part in these type of activities. It's almost a requirement if you don't want to get screwed by all the corruption there. That doesn't necessarily make it right (and it definitely doesn't make it legal), but I would like to know more about these alleged deals before I really get angry at Koch.

Novel prize is useless anymore as its political agenda had them giving Obama an award two months after him taking office, and he had done nothing......pfft...File it the who the hell cares section.

No, they fired an incompetent whistle blower. Egorova-Farines sued the Koch subsidiary for wrongful termination and lost. The court dismissed her case and ordered her to pay the Koch subsidiary's legal fees.

Yeah, and OJ wasn't guilty and no innocent people are ever jailed. In the US judicial system which is much more closely tied to political entities than most, money can buy verdicts.
Apples and oranges - GE was doing bribes in Iraq. Koch Brothers are selling to Iran - a country that US firms are expressly forbidden to sell to and violating a UN ruling as well. Very different.

Sorry to break this to you, but this was a European company that hired/fired a European. The judge and court was in Europe. The U.S. judicial system had nothing to do with it.

GE was also doing business with Iran..........

General Electric becomes the second U.S. company in a week to announce it will no longer seek new business in Iran. American companies are forbidden by law from doing business in Iran, but many have gotten around the law by working through foreign subsidiaries.

Got anything else ??

Didn't think so..............

To bad you didn't offer a bet ...... The Nobel prize story was on Fox as soon as it was announced.

Try again.

That Koch Brothers is still doing this and the right isn't willing to condemn them for doing this speaks volumes about the ethics of the right.

I would agree that's the case with the Nobel Peace Prize. Not for the other Nobel prizes. All you have to do is look down the list to there is no lack of "conservative" economists.

Admitting I was wrong on this one. I did look before I spoke. It is on Fox, it is just buried real deep

No, Koch stopped about the same time as GE and dozens of other companies that were selling products to Iran.

Your excuses for GE, while condemning Koch speaks volumes about the ethics of the left.

It is in FoxNews reports of news from other sources in two places on FoxNews website - one in US news from AP and one in Market news from Reuters. I was not able to find something written by FoxNews on their site. Free free to find it for me if you wish.

In May 2008, a unit of Koch Industries Inc., one of the world’s largest privately held companies, sent Ludmila Egorova-Farines, its newly hired compliance officer and ethics manager, to investigate the management of a subsidiary in Arles in southern France. In less than a week, she discovered that the company had paid bribes to win contracts.“I uncovered the practices within a few days,” Egorova- Farines says. “They were not hidden at all.”
She immediately notified her supervisors in the U.S. A week later, Wichita, Kansas-based Koch Industries dispatched an investigative team to look into her findings, Bloomberg Markets magazine reports in its November issue.
By September of that year, the researchers had found evidence of improper payments to secure contracts in six countries dating back to 2002, authorized by the business director of the company’s Koch-Glitsch affiliate in France.
“Those activities constitute violations of criminal law,” Koch Industries wrote in a Dec. 8, 2008, letter giving details of its findings. The letter was made public in a civil court ruling in France in September 2010; the document has never before been reported by the media.
That you continue to misstate the facts without any admission of wrong speaks volumes about your ethics.

Let me get this straight..........

You bold the date of an investigation into bribes as some type of proof that they were doing business with Iran in 2008 ????

You're joking right ?? At least I have facts...........

In May 2008, Egorova-Farines found this was on-going. Koch Brothers did further investigation and an internal letter dated in December says the findings were valid.

You are the one who needs to get your facts straight.

Amending last statement that Koch Brother sold to Iran until 2008. It was 2007
While Koch-Glitsch was conducting its internal probe of illicit payments for contracts, the U.S. government was investigating Koch’s European unit on another front: sales to Iran.

On Aug. 14, 2008, investigators from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security met with George Bentu, who had worked as a sales engineer from 2001 to 2007 for Koch-Glitsch in Germany, Bentu says. In a four-hour interview at the U.S. consulate in Frankfurt, the officials asked about documents showing details of the company’s trades with Iran, he says.

Internal company records show that Koch Industries used its foreign subsidiary to sidestep a U.S. trade ban barring American companies from selling materials to Iran. Koch-Glitsch offices in Germany and Italy continued selling to Iran until as recently as 2007, the records show.

The company’s products helped build a methanol plant for Zagros Petrochemical Co., a unit of Iran’s state-owned National Iranian Petrochemical Co., the documents show. The facility, in the coastal city of Bandar Assaluyeh, is now the largest methanol plant in the world, according to IHS Inc., an Englewood, Colorado-based provider of chemicals, energy and economic data.

Who the hell are the Koch brothers and why are they trying to grab the reigns of the anti-tax movement? Or are repo-blicans and demr-rats trying to force these Koch bros as some sorta figure heads for people tired of an overburdening government?

And on a seperate note:
FOX = Propaganda. According to them all the Occupy Wallstreet gumption comes from ACORN and all the people protesting against Obamas alliance with wallstreet are actually libbos marching for a libbo Obama. (in my eyes Obama seems to be the opposite of a libertarian...)
