NASA satellite breaks up in plunge to Earth

There were reports on Twitter of debris falling over Okotoks, a town south of Calgary in western Canada, most likely the remains of the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, or UARS, which had been in orbit for 20 years.

Canada may have had a few seconds to view it but it fell 100% in the Ocean and there isn't even a good video of that has surfaced so far.

Kind of disappointing really after all the build up, but we should have known because we were warned that when it came down we not know where for a while.


Maybe someone out at sea go a good video. I would find it hard to believe that our Navy wasn't paying attention

This reminds me how for so many years the ocean was thought to be so vast that navies and ships would dump their junk into it. Of course now that has proven wrong.
The same thing with space which was so vast that early on no one ever thought about the consequences of old satelites.

Man if often not too bright.
