US agents raid Gibson Guitar over ebony

Re: Is your guitar DOJ approved?

Why does the one leveling a charge deserve anything other than the demand to prove it?

j-mac

And yet you level charges without any proof or evidence. That's dishonest and two-faced

I offer speculation, just as you do about the CEO of Gibson, wasn't it you that called him a criminal earlier?

No, you offered conclusions which you are now dishonestly denying. Here's what you said
That seems to be the charge, however, it hasn't played out in court and already we have some on this board calling the CEO a criminal, and finding the company guilty before anything is proven. Yet on the same hand those same individuals want the presumption of pure innocence granted the administration in carrying out this jack booted assault on an American Iconic company. Seems rather one sided don't you think?

j-mac

If it were "speculation" as you now dishonestly claim, you would have phrased it as "possibly jackbooted assault" or used some other term to suggest it were not certain.

And you're also dishonestly implying that I called anyone a criminal.

Alleged criminal. It will be up to the courts to decide if he is a criminal. And you have yet to provide any proof to back up your claim that Gibson is being unfairly investigated.

Sorry, it was one of the others that sound, and post identical to you then. But tell me, did authorities enter Gibson, armed? And why was that? did they expect a fire fight?

Re: Is your guitar DOJ approved?

Well the problem is this (Feds go after Gibson Guitars — RT)

Thus, the US went and raided Gibson due to them breaking Indian laws, not American ones. Thus this brings up the questions Will the US start enforcing the laws of other nations in America?
and 2) Just how much power does the Federal government have?

Couldn't it also fall under US customs law and inspections?

Re: Is your guitar DOJ approved?

Obama's days as president are surely numbered.....Would he be so bold, and go aft
er the foriegn markets that do trade with American companies?....NO.

Yeah, all because of this raid. Obama is going to lose 2012.

Wouldn't that be standard operating procedure? Can you list the occasions that authorities enter areas unarmed where suspected criminal activities are taking place?

Please provide an unedited post where I said they were guilty of anything. Thanks!

Re: Is your guitar DOJ approved?

Just like the old saying Delta.. "A picture is worth a thousand words". :)

LOL! Especially when you have not been able to find words to back up your claim that Gibson is being unfairly investigated.

Now you have to wonder why corporations move over seas a leave those who bitch unemployed. Meanwhile all exports to overseas require hardwood(HT/Oak) or plastic pallets, and in return we receive balsa, presswood insect infested pallets, yep all is good with the EPA and customs, so it gives them plenty of time to do a armed invasion of a Guitar company.

Why don't you start a thread about all the bills the GOP has introduced regarding your strawman. In regards to this thread, do you have any proof to back up the conservative claims that Gibson is being unfairly investigated???

I mostly stopped following, so maybe this has changed... but the lack of any actual CHARGES against Gibson should be viewed as evidence of their innocence OR that the claims against them are frivolous. Hell, aren't they still not even charged from the PREVIOUS raid some years ago??

Just read the article...especially the update
Why Gibson Guitar Was Raided By The Justice Department : The Record : NPR

Our Constitution assigns its enumerated legislative powers to the Congress, and does not permit Congress to delegate its lawmaking function to the executive or the judicial branch. This structural protection had two purposes: it guaranteed that those who made the law were accountable to the people, and it ensured that the laws were made by the body best suited for deliberation.
