After jobs speech dust-up, Obama changes date
President Barack Obama agrees to delay a planned jobs speech to a joint session of Congress by one day after the House speaker objects to the date the White House originally sought.

Boehner balked and told the president he ought to wait and speak a day later.

We conservatives are often accused of not finding or saying anything positive about President Obama, so here is something positive: I sincerely think this was a good call by the President, especially after his spokesperson's snotty comment about how the debate date should be changed. While I also give props to Speaker Boehner for showing backbone, I actually give the president more credit for not necessitating that this turn into a pissing match.

Sorry, iPad limitations mean I have to save things piece by piece.

Oops, the title isn't quite right. It should be "After jobs speech dust-up, Obama agrees to change date". Can that be corrected?

Dunno, what's it worth to you?

Uhm...what do you want (to take the "s" off of change)?

Re: After jobs speech dust-up, Obama changes date

Obama pretty much had no choice but back off or he would have nad an ass of himself.

Nothing major, just your eternal soul.

Well, ok, but in the interest of full disclosure I should tell you that Satan already has a lien on it.

Obama is a pretty big puss.... Always giving into GOP demands

Even when I compliment the president, I can't get agreement from people on the left. LOL

So it sounds like both sides where polite and a resolution was reached. Why, oh why, can't this happen with more substantive stuff?

Good on Obama. Reasonable course of action

As much as I despise the man I think he did the right thing.

What I say is whoever scheduled on that day first shouldn't have to change their schedule. If the debates had been planned on that day then Obama did the only thing he could do without making himself look like an ass. If the GOP scheduled after Obama announced his speech date, then the GOP comes out with egg on their face.

This was the polite thing to do. Although personally I want to hear about this alleged "job plan" ASAP. Why keep us in the dark any longer than necessary?

Did every president televise public speeches to announce every single idea that might positively affect the country? I only remember Bush televising addresses to the nation regarding our military action against Iraq/Afghanistan (and SOTU, of course). And I remember Clinton and his "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" address.

But it seems like Obama spends a lot of time on TV talking about *crap.

I agree with the OP, but only because he's a Cowboy's fan! Go Boyz!
