Administration moves plan to ax hundreds of rules - Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Obama administration disclosed plans Tuesday to cut or roll back hundreds of federal regulations, including some that will streamline tax forms at the Internal Revenue Service, let railroad companies pass on installing expensive new technology, and speed up the visa process for low-risk visitors to the U.S.

I found this interesting. Wonder what part of the story people will find most interesting.

Sunstein said the reforms would not impact regulations needed to protect consumers and the environment,

I find it interesting, though not surprising, that EPA regs will remain a sacred cow.

And that is a good thing, we don't want companies polluting the places where we live.

Kids today dont breath enough lead and mercury. They dont eat enough pesticides in their food, and drink enough insecticide in their drinking water. It is making them soft.

Why back in the day, kids would be sprayed with DDT, and would lick the mercury from the back of mirrors

This is why Obama will be a one-term president - as a liberal, he is for unnecessary regulation and is for killing jobs here in the U.S. Just like he's for pulling the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, just like he's for the closing of the GITMO prison camps, just like he's for a national health service, and just like he's for ending the Bush Tax Cuts.

All of his actions in support of such liberal policies prove why he'll lose in '12.

So yeah, the fact you can't see the difference between environmental regulations and ones that can be safely removed to streamline processes says alot about you.

Yeah, let's go back to the days before pollution control when people lived to be 45. You really appreciate life more when you have so much less of it.

he was being sarcastic.

So which ones might actually make a difference in job creation?

:popcorn2:

This the right approach to handling business regulation. Contrary to pundits, regulation is not a four legs good two legs bad sort of situation. You can find plenty of regulations that are pointless and inhibit business, plenty of good ones that provide reasonable protections and plenty of places where the lack of regulation hurts. You need to analyze each rule based on the specific conditions of that particular market.

Thats a VERY good question...one they SHOULD be asking the industrial leaders of the country that can actually ACCOMPLISH that task...

And we have Tea Partiers because of it.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Now do we understand why Obama asked Imelt to be on his jobs board?

Yes, lets ask the industry what regulations they want and don't want. There's no bias there at all. None of them want certain regulations to remain in place to thwart upstarts. No, not all. :doh

They care about employing people? They can be trusted in regulating themselves? Sicne when was it a companies job to employ people rather than make money?

I bet gas stations would love to get rid of the full service law in New Jersey and Oregon.

I've always believed most job killing/over baring regulation legislation exist on the state rather than the federal level.
