S&P lowered the the U.S. to AA+ as a political maneuver to hurt Obama and I agree with the ploy. But now they are no protecting the company with the sacrifice of one guy who is rich beyond our dreams.

I do believe there were some ulterior motives that caused them to lower the rating (seeing as they maintained the downgrade even after they admitted to the Treasury department pointing out their "$2 trillion mistake") This tells me that, to a certain degree, they had already decided on an outcome first, and come up with a rationale later.
However, I wouldn't go so far as to say that they did it to hurt Obama. Clearly they did it for some reason, I just don't know what exactly. To make a statement, I guess?
And, just fyi to the mods this is a dupe thread.
