Black caucus: Tired of making excuses for Obama

It needs to be pointed out that the title of this thread is a lie.

Not only did the CBC not make any official statement stating what the OP claims, but the CBC member quoted in the OP isn't even the chairman of the CBC.

Meanwhile, back at the OP...where the history of US racism was NOT being discussed...

"We don't put pressure on the president," Waters told the audience at Wayne County Community College. "Let me tell you why. We don't put pressure on the president because ya'll love the president. You love the president. You're very proud to have a black man -- first time in the history of the United States of America. If we go after the president too hard, you're going after us."

CBC recognizes Obamas failings but cant attack him, because if they attack him on his failed leadership as PRESIDENT, the CBC members will get attacked by black folks because the CBC attacked him...because he is black.

There aint no white IN this fight...cept the one y'all keep dragging in.

Government isn't segregating them. No law makes anyone join any group. It's just silly for there to be a white pride group, but not illegal.
Why do i have to put my race on just about everything i sign with a government form?

Again i don't think there should be any laws against a Black caucus or a white caucus group but i think they are distasteful and indirectly racist.

please quote the official CBC statement saying this.

no? then please quote the official or even unofficial statement from the chairman of the CBC, Emmanuel Cleaver, stating this.

no, then your claim is a lie.

It is often optional, but it is more for statisitcs than anything else.

And no, it is not racism. You're making a huge leap in logic.

but maxine still said stupid crap
she appears to believe that blacks vote in a monolithic manner
waters declines doing her duty as a representative for fear that it will adversely impact her chances for re-election
and she attributes the higher percentage of unemployment among blacks to be due to something other than that segment of society's weak skill set (on average)
examine the unemployment rate of another minority, asians, with a higher average skill set, and we will find that better educated minority group is not beset by magnified unemployment

then i missed the point of this post

please explain the point you attempted to make

100 white kids bussed into black schools. 100 black kids bussed into white schools. 200 students placed in some pretty bad 'educational' experiences because of a bunch of adult politicians decided to use them as pawns to save the world. It wasnt effective.

I lived one street west of Sweetwater in a run down trailer park...one of the poorest housing neighborhoods in Jacksonville. Many of the houses occupied there had not even been finished by the developers. Those were my neighbors and classmates. We played on the city sports teams together. We didnt NEED to be 'de-segregated'. We were de-segregated by socio-economic status. Students that got bussed into those majority schools...you dont think that reenforced certain resentments in some folks? We were kids for gods sake.

100% irrelevent to the thread.
you appear not to have read the article within the OP to make such a bold - and quite erroneous - statement
here is an excerpt which evidences why my comment was very much relevant to this thread
... The problem, Waters said, is that Obama is not paying enough attention to the problems of some black Americans. The unemployment rate for African-Americans nationally is a little over 16 percent, and almost twice that in Detroit. And yet, Waters said, the president is on a jobs-promotion trip through the Midwest that does not include any stops in black communities. ...
apology accepted in advance

Here's an overview:

White privilege - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

White Nationalists believe that white people should have an identity as a group (or meta-group) sharing a relatively common genetic and cultural heritage, and work towards common interests.

White Nationalism

You can do a search as well, and you should be aware not all groups are as open. An oppressed group needs to work together a little more than a priviledged group.

First of all, learn how to spot disputed and flawed wiki articles before presenting them as evidence of anything; especially if you are going to tell me I “can do a search as well”.

Allow me to give you a true example of white privilege/white nationalism and racism in this country:

You see, the reality is that you and liberals like you are the real racists in this country. When “people of color” don’t fit the tidy little mold you have created for them and dare to think like truly free men and women, you attack and slander them and gnash your teeth wondering “how they could be trying to curry favor with the oppressors”.

This is where the real racism lies; with do-gooder liberals like you who smear unhyphenated American minorities for not thinking or acting the way you know they should think or act.

ok
then tell us what is flawed about those cites
what did they get wrong?

Wiki, like any encyclopedia, is fair use for an overview. Learn how to use sources before you whine.

And you might also look up what racism really is, and some history would be nice for you to catch up on. When a school in Mississippi takes in white students so they can avoid going to school with black children, that is racism. When a business person says we won't hire people of color, as is done in this country, that is racism. Serious racism. To whine about a minorty with a history of oppression working together to improve themselves is plain silly.

I think they may be unnecessary now too. At the least, they're divisive.

And...shockingly...

continuing yesterdays trend...anything to avoid the fact that a black congresswoman and member of the congressional black congress adressed a black audience and called them out because of their blind support for the president...because he is black...which prevents the CBC members for calling him out...not because he is black, but because he is incomeptent.

Oh yes...keep on talking white people, racism, everything but the reality as presented in the OP.

I think they may be unnecessary now too. At the least, they're divisive.

Things are better, but not yet perfect. I suggest how neccessary we see it depends largely on where we sit.

I think they may be unnecessary now too. At the least, they're divisive.

if there were no signs of racism present today, then i would agree
unfortunately, racism is still rampant in our nation
it has changed in two ways. there is less of it and it is now more covert than before
the need for government forces to continue to eradicate vestiges of racism remains

And you might also look up what racism really is,

maybe you should take your own advice

When a school in Mississippi takes in white students so they can avoid going to school with black children, that is racism.

wrong. it may be discrimination, but it is not, by definition, racism

When a business person says we won't hire people of color, as is done in this country, that is racism.

this actually is racism

Both are racism. In the school, they left the minority in a failing school, not allowing admission to those of color. At the public school, the police chief was teaching math as he was the only person they could get.

racism:

rac·ism   /ˈreɪsɪzəm/ Show Spelled[rey-siz-uhm] Show IPA
noun
1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

Racism | Define Racism at Dictionary.com

Some sociologists have defined racism as a system of group privilege. In Portraits of White Racism, David Wellman has defined racism as "culturally sanctioned beliefs, which, regardless of intentions involved, defend the advantages whites have because of the subordinated position of racial minorities”.[14] Sociologists Noël A. Cazenave and Darlene Alvarez Maddern define racism as “...a highly organized system of 'race'-based group privilege that operates at every level of society and is held together by a sophisticated ideology of color/'race' supremacy. Sellers and Shelton (2003) found that a relationship between racial discrimination and emotional distress was moderated by racial ideology and public regard beliefs. That is, racial centrality appears to promote the degree of discrimination African American young adults perceive whereas racial ideology may buffer the detrimental emotional effects of that discrimination. Racist systems include, but cannot be reduced to, racial bigotry,”.[15] Sociologist and former American Sociological Association president Joe Feagin argues that the United States can be characterized as a "total racist society"[16]

- :"Police harassment and brutality directed at black men, women, and children are as old as American society, dating back to the days of slavery and Jim Crow segregation. Such police actions across the nation today reveal important aspects of . . . the commonplace discriminatory practices of individual whites . . . [and] white dominated institutions that allow or encourage such practices.."[17]

Oh goodie!!!! This weeks THREAD TO BASH THE DARKIES is in full swing. And just like the previous 468 of them, its soooooo damn informative.

yeah, a white guy in downtown Atlanta or Crenshaw will definitely face some rampant racism ;)

Been there. As a white guy. Not so bad. Not near as bad as driving or walking while being black.
