Bachmann wins Iowa straw poll, keeps momentum

I was hoping that way 2 years and 9 months ago, alas I was disappointed.

I've been disappointed as well, but there is nothing on offer from the other side to make me shift my vote. Romney doesn't completely scare me - especially if he were able to return to the Romney he was when he was Governor instead of the Romney he has to be to compete with Wild-Eyes Bachmann. Just like I would've considered the 2000 model of John McCain, but could not conceivably vote for the 2008 model - especially with the Veep choice he made.

"If Rick Santorum and when Rick Santorum is President, Iran will not get a nuclear weapon because the world as we know it...will be no more"

-Rick Santorum - talking in third person...

So, the world as we know it will be no more if and when Rick Santorum gets elected president, so Iran won't get a nuclear weapon, the world having ended and all.

Is that really what he meant to say, or is he using a George Bush grammatical construction?

Keep telling yourself that. It's going to be a long 8 years for you.

I will keep telling myself that. And in about 14 months I won't any more.... you actually think Obama's going to get re-elected with the U.S. in the **** it's in? :lamo

Keep telling yourself: Hope and Change and drink that kool-aid.

Depends purely on who he runs against.

Obama is the odds on favorite at this point. That is just a fact. Of course there's a long way to go.

sure, no one's gonna be weighing the state of the economy

LOL!

see a post ahead, anyone?

Who does the public blame most for the state of the economy?

This is one of the dumbest posts ever. Do you think most people in this country are going to look at the economy, decide it is all Obama's fault, and that the republican can make it all better, and that is all they vote on? Really? No other issue matters? The inherent assumption is the republican will fix things?

Hey look, random video.

I wonder what you are going to do next time a republican is president and you can't spam 1000 links a day to people bitching about the president.

The inherent assumption of people who would vote for the Republican if the party were running Charlie Manson, sure.

the WHIP: this is obama's economy now

seeya round the malls, moderates

The poor guy was for the most part getting ignored during majority of the debate. Had to re-learn how to talk when they finally did call on him.

In this case, pretty sure he was just noting that Iran getting a nuclear weapon would be a game changer in the Mideast theater. To which I would concur.

As for speaking in the third person, usually annoying. (How'd that work out for ol' Bob Dole...?? :2razz:)

It is the same thing every 4 years, "Washington sucks and I know how to save the economy".

Bachmann wants to lower taxes on corporations to create jobs. But please tell me how we can compete with China where the average worker makes $117 to $147 a month. Or better yet how do we compete with Banglades where workers make $ 64 a month?
It seems the only way you could compete with that kind of labor force is government subsidies but then everyone wants to get away from the government.

Perhaps we should forget about those minimum wage jobs and let the third world do them and pollute their own land. Maybe we should become better educated as a country and become the engineers and not the broom pusher. But not one word in this political debate about our pathetic low educational driven citizens.

We are a country of low achieving overweight lazy citizens. Any doubt to that just go visit a state fair.

I wonder how much longer a country of low achieving overweight lazy citizens will be able to maintain its standard of living?

Perhaps... and I feel the same about sand and Obama.

How could anyone sleep at night after voting for Bachmann? Do we have a whole party on drugs?

An ignorant mind is too often a peaceful mind. :coffeepap

There was an entire political party on drugs in 2008. It's not out of the realm of possibility it could happen again.

I'm voting for the candidate with the highest entertainment value. Since the government seems bound and determined to **** us all one way or the other, it seems like electing for laughability is our only viable option.

Sweeping statements like this are, at best, asinine. The suggestion that your "side" had the answer any more than the other "side" is so preposterous that it can only be the lead-in for the worst joke in the history of the United states.

I know I had to counteract EarlzP's asinine statement to balance out the universe. "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction" you see.

Who suggested that?
