Rick Perry Enters G.O.P. Race for President

I will cancel out your vote.

The new prophets and apostles believe Christians--certain Christians--are destined to not just take "dominion" over government, but stealthily climb to the commanding heights of what they term the "Seven Mountains" of society, including the media and the arts and entertainment world. They believe they're intended to lord over it all. As a first step, they're leading an "army of God" to commandeer civilian government.
Rachel Maddow: Rick Perry May Be The Face Of A Christian Movement Seeking Political Domination (VIDEO)

CHRISTIAN RECONSTRUCTIONISM, DOMINION THEOLOGY AND THEONOMY
"These belief systems find a voice in Christian Reconstructionism -- a political movement to convert the United States -- and eventually the entire earth -- into a theocracy in which dissenters, adulterers, sexually active homosexuals, some sexually active bisexuals, witches, sorcerers, etc. would be exterminated."

Perry, she said, had just held a prayer event with "a specific Christian political movement...that seems to want a Rick Perry candidacy to be their political vehicle."

I fear for this country.

I would vote for Rick Perry over Obama in a heartbeat.

I would vote for a pile of dirty sand over Obama in a heartbeat. That's probably why I'm really not interested in the Republican primary. It's kinda irrelevant, though I really would like to see a no nonsense no BS candidate like a Christy or (at least so far) Quomo. I think those two are cut from the same tree though have a different letter before their names.

If justice in society extended to the political class, Andrew Cuomo should be in prison.

Rick Perry is waaaaay to right-wing for the vast majority of the country. The Republicans will shoot themselves if they nominate him. I hope that they do!

He has no chance. And that's a good thing, he would be horrible.

Just remember what happened the last time we elected a Texas Governor to the whitehouse....is America really that stupid?

Let me extend this mode of thinking in a new direction.

Some future black man wants to run for President.

How's that going down?

Being born a certain race is not the same as being a Republican Texas Governor.

I saw his announcement.... you know who he reminded me of? Bush... why? The way he talks and sounds lol, at first I thought it was Bush.

Plus Perry does not stand a chance... most Republicans dont know the man, and when they learn he use to support Al Gore, thinks he is a prophet, and that a majority of the so called Texas job miracle are in fact government jobs, then well... and then there is the gay rumour that has haunted him for 20+ years.

The work on the same principle - take the characteristics of a past member of group and assign them to the new member of the group.

Because race and profession are so analogous....

Good lord this has to be one of the most silly posts in a long time.

Except one of those things is relevant to the job of president. Stop digging the hole deeper...

Nobody chooses to be black. People choose to be Republicans.

Irrelevant.

Bush's sins are being visited upon Perry. Because Bush upset liberals, it must follow, think liberals, that Perry will do the same.
Obama's sins are being visited on a future black presidential contender. Because Obama is a screw-up, it must follow, think liberals, that a future black presidential contender will suffer from the same tendency to be a screw-up.

In neither case is the individual judged on his merits. In both cases they are tarred with the brush of group identity.

This argument is absolutely ludicrous.

No ones discounting Cain for example just because he's black and Obamas a screw up (opinion).

I'm sure you'll have a long winded rebuttle for what I just said... but oh well, as Redress said you'll just be digging the hole deeper.

Or, because Bush was a conservative with a similar background to Perry and similar positions on issues, they might be similar...HOLY COW, that actually makes sense and follows logically!

Growing up black doesn't impart common culture into black people? Race is a suite of attributes, just like philosophy is a suite of positions. Not every person in a racial group has the same distribution of attributes and not every person who adheres to a world view has the same distribution of positions.

I think he is going to give Mitt a fight, and I won't vote for this guy... no way.

This post is nuts... Bush ruined the Texas GOP and the Bush name. Yes, he was that bad.

No it does not. I recently moved to Atlanta from Michigan, and the culture of whites and blacks is significantly different. I live in a rich gated community right now. The blacks here are significantly different from the blacks in the inner city of Atlanta(so are the whites). This is not complicated stuff. Race is a minor aspect of what people are.

Race and position are irrelevant. The individual should be judged. If we are going to compare Perry to "other Texas governors" should we compare Obama to Illinois senators and deem that he's a mob driven corrupt individual solely based on his position prior to president?
