Rick Perry Enters G.O.P. Race for President

Growing up black doesn't impart common culture into black people? Race is a suite of attributes, just like philosophy is a suite of positions. Not every person in a racial group has the same distribution of attributes and not every person who adheres to a world view has the same distribution of positions.

My race isn't a suite of attributes... My culture is American. If you directed this post towards me personally, about my ethnicity, I'd be offended.

No it does not. I recently moved to Atlanta from Michigan, and the culture of whites and blacks is significantly different. I live in a rich gated community right now. The blacks here are significantly different from the blacks in the inner city of Atlanta(so are the whites). This is not complicated stuff. Race is a minor aspect of what people are.

A liberal living in a rich, gated community...

I know. It was worse when I was in the navy. A liberal in the navy stands out.

From what I saw of his announcement today, Rick Perry is a shoe in for the GOP nomination.

I sense a movement in the force. The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one.

Your comment went right over my head here. Can you please rephrase for us special ed students so I understand?

A diversity loving liberal living in a gated community to keep the full flavored aroma of diversity at bay.

It's actually pretty diverse. We have here that I know of blacks, whites, hispanics and asians. They are all wealthy.

Well, except for me, I just work here, and in fact that is what I am doing now.

So posting on DP is your job ;)

In an earlier post you stated you live there. Ah, yes; the protected diversity of the liberal rich. Rather ironic, isn't it?

Ah yes, the speaking out of ignorance that is always so entertaining. When you actually know the details, you might be in a position to comment.

Finally a cancidate I can vote for with a track record

So you're in favor of big government and massive deficits?

Or, because Bush was a conservative with a similar background to Perry and similar positions on issues, they might be similar...HOLY COW, that actually makes sense and follows logically!

Actually, their backgrounds are pretty dramatically different, and the Bushes hate Perry.

Texas' budget deficit was actually in line with other states as a total percentage of it's revenue and general ledger. More money, bigger gap. That tends to happen...

As for the "big government" thing....depends on the issue.

I like Perry, but he's doomed. All Obama has to do is accuse him of being a carbon-copy of 'W', and he's finished.

Right, the so-called Texas miracle was a mirage created because Texas does two-year budgets. And over half of Texas' job growth consisted of new government jobs.

None of these links mention government jobs. The first one refers to government getting out of the way so businesses can prosper. This is the platform Rick Perry will run on.

Hmmm I wonder why The Heritage Foundation, Fox News and some blog don't want to look under the hood.

I don't get what you guys are getting at, but you probably don't live in a gated community so that is ironic...

He obviously committed welfare fraud or something, being a liberal and rich... all liberals are parasites and socialists...

I'm more worried about left leaning ideological views on fiscal and governmental issues more than I am about than I am far right leaning ideological views on social issues.

On my first quick look at Perry there's not a chance in hell I support him in the primaries. However, at this point I'd possibly grudgingly vote for him in the general against election unless he does something during the race so objectionable I couldn't even vote for him in principle, in which case I'd be voting 3rd party or staying home.

While there's no way I'm voting for Obama in 2012 after what we've seen of him that doesn't guarantee I'll vote for whatever Trash the Republicans throw out.

I doubt he can win...but who knows....I think the gop field stinks...and Im not an obama fan at all.
