Anti-gay lawmaker caught in Craigslist scandal

The only thing I can say about this thread, well two things, first is that My respect level for Redress has gone up considerably. The next is that I urge all conservatives, to look closely at the posts in this threat …. they clearly show the difference between a rational liberal, and some one who is so far out there in la la land .. that even describing him as far left doesn't do him justice.

And here we have the absurd and childish argument of "but they do it too". You should have left that argument on the playground where it belongs.

Well, it exposes your very selective outrage. You're obviously not truly interested in equality issues. You just want to bash the right.

Where do you see "selective outrage"? Or did you just make it up because it sounds a lot like the childish whine "but they do it too!"?

The selective outrage is apparent in who you fail to be outraged at.

WHo do I fail to be outraged at?

Do you really need an answer or are you just being troll like?

Go back and read the comments dude, it is pretty obvious who you and X Factor were talking about.

IMO, your post is troll-like. So are all the other "but they do it too!" posts.

The definition of anti-gay has been changed so much it's almost as if the goalpost has been moved to the moon under the guise of "rationality". There's nothing rational about Redress' stance and I'm shocked he'd take such an apologist stance on the issue. Sure, we can all sit here and pretend that being anti-SSM/gay civil unions isn't motivated by homophobia but in the context of American politics, that's simply illogical. Diatribes have been written; the forum's known homophobes have come out of the closet to thank Redress' posts about how there is much ado about nothing here.

The problem with the Kumbaya in this thread is indeed a hypocritical angle to this issue. There is a politician who thinks it's alright to ban SSM/gay civil unions because of his own religious values (and yes, believing marriage is between a man and a woman is a religious value) but has absolutely no problem with ignoring the rest of his religious values( like the ones who tell you not to lay with another man) in order to pay for a gay prostitute. That's like saying you're against raping kids but have no problem with working them to death in factories.

Obviously, most of those who've seen the "rationality" of Redress' won't admit this because it doesn't suit them but they are the only ones being dishonest in this case. Being anti-SSM/civil union in America's political context is deeply rooted in religious homophobia. To try and sugarcoat it is an exercise in dishonesty. We can play around it all day but all this nonsense about how his SSM/civil union stance have nothing to do with his personal family values is simply that: nonsense.

Even Obama doesn't dare to advocate for anything other than gay civil unions. The religious homophobic backlash from the supposedly non-homophobic masses would mean the complete destruction of the Democratic party.

Yeah the whole "I don't hate gay people, I just oppose SSM" angle is ridiculous. I don't care if some bigot's hate takes the form of driving around in a pickup truck and jumping out to beat up gay people, sitting around a church preaching about how gay people are evil, or fighting to deny gay people equal rights. I don't care whether in the back of their heads the people doing those things have some wild rationalization worked out where they think they're actually helping the people they attack. It doesn't matter. Fighting to deny a demographic group equal rights is hate. Period. It's your hateful actions, not your justifications, that matter.
