what exactly have we won? Enlighten me.
i never said that we won anything.
Please read what is there instead of what you want.

No, they're not beating us. We're beating ourselves. There are too many people who will sell out our fighting men, to prove how much they care about our fighting men.
Good lord people.
31 military folks...sons...husbands...fathers...died in a combat operation. Cant you for once let go of your pathetic need to fight politics and just mourn already? MUST every single instance including this tragedy be used for a springboard for a political attack? WTF is wrong with you people?
In a word? Yes!
Tragic...true. Stop already. Good men died. Respect and honor them or simply have the decency to shut the **** up.

Might as well send the whole thread to the sewer, starting with the OP, since the deaths of these men was being used to show why we need to retreat from Afghanistan. There's nothing more disgusting, than exploiting the deaths of servicemen, to support a defeatest agenda.
I agree with that as well. It is repugnant to me to make decisions on war or support for troops based on if something is economically expedient. Im just saying, that is as bad as dragging Vietnam into this. Both debates to be had...just not in this environment.

Well, the thread was politicized, from the OP on, so purdy much anything goes.
Who's exploiting anything? What precisely am I to gain by posting my opinion here? Sorry, but your dog doesn't hunt.
I suggest to you that waging an unwinable war in which thousands upon thousands of innocents die is far worse.
On this day we have lost 31 men. My love and respect goes out to their families. I am saddened because of their lost. I hope as a retired military man, civilian employee and citizen of this country that I can live my life to honor their loss.
Dude, these terrorists are beating the best army in history
As I said, defeatism.
The Chinook incident involved Navy SEALS, not the Army.
Enlighten me. how are we winning and what are we winning? And while you're at it, please cure me of my defeatism and explain to me how we won the Viet Nam war and what we won there while you're at it.
Hey Apdst we can probably win any war that we truly wish to fully engage in, but those days have been over since the last great war...WW2. I think enough is enough and ten years of war isn't healthy for any nation. Afghanistan has no strategic value, it's no a direct threat currently and we nothing in common with these people, it's time to wrap it up and leave all we are doing now is playing wack a mole. I think we need to take a hard look at our current foreign policy and how we operate around the world and try to figure out if we do so with in our constitutional boundaries. We won Vietnam, too.
In my opinion you are mistaken. We were not beaten militarily. We had a political decision to run away. We could discuss this in a separate thread if you like.Son, I lived that history. We got our asses handed to us. We were run off the continent with our tail between our legs.
I think this has been proven for 5000 years, the terrain, it's tribal, religiously motivated, environment and the people are all working against any invading army. After 911, the Taliban had to be taken down. That said, we simply can't stay in Afghanistan forever, and the Taliban will never be completely eliminated (half of it lives in Pakistan). We desperately need a smart exit-strategy. I love the troops and support them 100%, but we can't win there, and we can't stay there, forever. Sad, but true.

Reduced blast, enhanced radiation warheads (neutron bombs) were intended to stop an enemy by killing his armored warriors while not destroying German towns a few kilometers away. Given that the Afghani insurgents are not conducting mobile armored warfare it is the wrong tool to use.One sure way to win over this insanity drop the neutron bomb or bombs, but who/country in their right mind would do this?
