31 American Troops Killed In NATO Helicopter Crash In Afghanistan

Care to point to the battles we lost; how they inflicted heavier casualties upon us with their overwhelming combat power? Who did we surrender to, Giap? When did the retreat take place?

I can't wait to hear your version of the history of the war.

Start another thread, enough disrespect in this one for our soldiers.

This wasnt just any military unit, it was members of Seal Team Six, some Afghan commandos and assorted AF personnel. Single largest loss of life and it happens to be among some of the best soldiers we have. Sad day.

Very sad. Damn shame, I feel for their families.

Huge blow to the Special Forces community, obviously. But an even worse blow to their families and loved ones.

May God bless those who mourn today.

And may we just get out of that place once and for all.

It was the guys who got Bin Laden if the few media reports are to believed... really sucks.

Same unit, not necessarily the exact same guys.

Dude, these terrorists are beating the best army in history, they've been surviving for the past 10 years and don't seem to be going away anytime soon. What do you not understand out that?

The stupidity of your argument is epic. Thousands of years of history suggest that to be the case.

Thank you for your service.

Doesn't take away from the fact that you're mistaken about Vietnam.

Black is white, left is right, in is out...

We lost 58,200 or so Americans in the war.

And when all was said and done, we left and the country was in control of the communists. How you can suggest that was anything less than a loss is amazing. But typical from those on the far right whose revising of history is their daily bread.

I'm not so sure. Formal armies do not fare well against guerrilla tactics, especially when the guerrillas can exist in some of the harshest conditions and with very little.

A study of Geronimo will bear this out. he terrorized two countries and their armies for roughly 20 years with usually about 30 warriors at any given time. Large armies require huge logistics, guerrillas don't require very much at all.

When your enemy is invisible it's pretty hard to get a good aim on him.

No, our politicians are beating the best army in history.

Actually, the commies weren't in control of the country when our army pulled out, but hey, don't let the facts blurr your revisionist history.

It depends on the tactics being used against the guerillas. The British saw alot of success against the Boars and in Indonesia.

What happened in the end?

No army is invisible, you just have to know what to look for.

Precisely my point.

Oh really? Was it Casper the friendly Ghost?

Musta been, because it wasn't the commies. Communists forces didn't over-run the South until 1974...2 years after American forces had pulled out. It's all in the history books.

The stupidity of my argument? So you are saying they aren't beating us?

Also, the US military is the best one in history.

The stupidity of your response is epic.

What exactly have we won? Enlighten me.

You do understand one led to the other? Your contention that we won the Viet Nam war is laughable.

No, they're not beating us. We're beating ourselves. There are too many people who will sell out our fighting men, to prove how much they care about our fighting men.

Actually, it didn't. The defeat of the ARVN led to the commies over-running the South.
