President Barack Obama's conduct during the debate over the debt ceiling has divided the country and will inflict damage that will last well after the battle is over, former New York Stock Exchange director and Wall Street stalwart Ken Langone said.

=-=

In sum, the behavior is symptomatic of Obama's disrespect for the office he holds, Langone said.

=-=

"He is not acting presidential. He is behaving in a way designed in my opinion to divide us, to make us look at each other with skepticism, with suspicion. That is the end of America as we know it," he said. "The destruction he is inflicting by his behavior will carry on long after we settle the debt limit."

Damn, CNBC carried this?

I must say I agree with him 100%

I think it's a bit hyperbolic. His speech is definitely partisan, but I'm not so sure we weren't already pretty well divided.

LOL Zimmer.. er MrVicchio you are on a roll today with your Obama bashing.. So a rich guy disagrees with Obama... who would have thought..

Wait for the 9-11 show. Between Cramer and this guy from England the show is more MSNBC than CNBC. Hard to listen when you want a business versus politics show.

Yeah, next thing you know George Soros will be pissing in his cornflakes.

This is a "he who smelt it dealt it" complain. The sad part is, we aren't in grade school and that doesn't work anymore. Just because Obama addressed it, does mean he's the cause of it.

America has been divided since its inception, but we are willing to pull together to move forward. Now we have a situation where some aren't willing to pull together to move things in a positive direction.

The co-founder of Home Depot sharply criticized the president for promoting class warfare through his repeated attacks against "fat cat" business executives and his targeting of tax loopholes.

Nothing but talking points. Saying Obama has disrespect for the country or the presidency is over kill. This guy can go **** himself. He's pissed off that people actually want to close tax loopholes.

Exactly. This guy, along with his GOP friends, are afraid they might have to pay the same tax rate as normal Americans, instead of that 15% capital gains tax they usually pay... that is, 15% of the money they have not legally hid from the IRS.

Just wondering. Right now interest on municipal bonds pay zero taxes. Would you suggest taxing that at normal rates.

Holy ****, a conservative criticizes a liberal! STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!

In other equally surprising news, the sun came up this morning.

This is no different than how the right constantly plays the victim card and acts as though it's strictly a tool of the left, constantly plays the race card by claiming that people are always calling them racists when in reality you hear conservatives complain about being called racist about ten times more then you actually hear any liberals calling them racist etc.

I've always thought that both sides were mostly intelligent rational people with a few loons but I can't help but come to the conclusion lately that conservatives as a whole have just crossed that 50% thresh hold and now a majority of them are loons that function off of talking points.

I feel like I should save this topic the next time I hear Mr.V complain how much liberal bias there is in the "other than Fox" media.

Man writes opinion article critical of the President is breaking news?

It's not an opinion article, it wasn't in blogs, politics, it's reporting on a big business member bashing Obama. I know you don't want to admit that but...

Actually it's a news story about an opinion. And it is LoL worthy. We have dozens of people here who say the same stupid crap.

But this is a rich successful man, and because he's rich and "successful" his opinion matters more then anybody elses... why? Because he has managed to accumulate more wealth than his average citizens which makes him smarter than anybody else OBVIOUSLY.

Don't you know anything Redress?

Unpresidential? Hardly. We've seen some pretty pathetic behavior from several different presidents. I don't think Obama scores high in the "leadership" category, but that doesn't make him unpresidential. More like ineffectual.

It's also sweet irony to hear a Wall Street insider talk about how the government is going to cause economic destruction. Umm...what did some of you Wall Street guys try to do a couple years ago? (And I say this as a financial services lackey.) Look in the mirror, Langone.

It's true we are divided. But we were very divided BEFORE Obama came into office. I see him trying to go down the middle on some solutions, for which I have to admire him. But we're already so polarized into our Left vs. Right camps that no one has the guts to try the middle way, so he's not getting much support when he does attempt it.

I don't think the president is dividing us.... The rest, I can understand somebody feeling that way. I think Bush was a really divisive president, but I haven't heard Obama making very divisive comments about people or the right not supporting his legislation.

Making us suspicious of each other... yeah right, I think Beck didn't a great job at that. The extreme right isn't willing to compromise, saying Obama is a socialist, Marxist, secret terrorist, secret Kenyan, etc.

"I can't trust him, he's a, he's an Arab."

Those people have been divided from the rest of us.

Here is an example. Yes both sides do it but why do we allow it?

It wasn't clear how long the delay might last, although a spokesman for Boehner said the vote was still expected to take place later in the evening.

The White House quickly taunted Boehner's Republicans.

Someone needs to go to Washington and slap the entire lot of them upside the head. I respect a difference in beliefs. Fight for what you believe is right. The "taunting" though is totally uncalled for at this level.
