Glenn Beck likens Norwegian dead to Hitler youth

I think part of the problem with this discussion is that indoctrination itself is actually pretty neutral and can be used responsibly or irresponsibly, but the word itself has a bad connotation so people assume its an attack when the word is used.

Sounds like education to me. Indoctrination is applying a method for a lesson on something that is disputed without offering the context or full details of the dispute to those that are involved in the lesson. Wanna try again, Mega? :)

The rowdiness doesn't just come from the liberal side.
I am just puzzled what some understand as 'liberal' or 'libertarian".

I don't think anybody is saying that Beck doesn't have a right to his opinion. However, we also have a right to criticize that opinion if we don't agree with it.

What's insulting is just how damn ridiculously large this thread got. You were all duped by some knee jerker, and now you're all trying to save face.. Well, some of you are, and some of you really are unable to realize how duped you were/are.. :)

Beck and his ilk often like to describe anything involving children as reminiscent of the Hitler Youth. In reality, the organization wasn't nearly as nefarious as the name would imply. It was designed to replace the Boy Scouts in Germany after the organization was banned. Much of the Hitler Youth programs were similar to those that the Boy Scouts did then and do now. However, the HY adding paramilitary training to the curriculum. It was not, in fact, a place where kids were sent to be brainwashed. Only those who were already strong on the Nazi agenda went there in the first place.

If we're going to accuse an organization of doing something illicit, can we at least use the right metaphor?

And yet you are still contributing to it. Nobody was duped. Glenn Beck made comments that some found outrageous and worthy of criticism. Just because you happen to agree with them doesn't mean that they are based in reality.

No, some thought they were worthy of the misidentified kind fo criticism, and all of you jumped on board the Beck Bash Train.. :)

Like I said the normal Beck bashers are all high fiving themselves right now that they managed to get a Beck bash thread to live at least half a day in the grown up forums.

Not really. Thus far what I've seen are people who have a problem with his comparison considering that his evidence for this comparison was baseless and completely unfounded. It's an incredibly weak tactic to identify criticism as an attack. Quite frankly, you really have no reason to talk considering that you have been utilizing said methods of attack about Liberals by implying that they are stupid.

Like I said the normal Beck bashers are all high fiving themselves right now that they managed to get a Beck bash thread to live at least half a day in the grown up forums.

Hitler youth: Militarized, radical over one leader, paramilitary, Aryan supreme, anti antisemitic.
Norwegian Labor Camp: Teens and college students go that share an idea of being pro labor...
