So, the UN wants to change the helmets from blue to green and is advocating that they "intervene in conflicts caused by rising seas levels and shrinking resources."

UN security council to consider climate change peacekeeping | Environment | guardian.co.uk

A special meeting of the United Nations security council is due to consider whether to expand its mission to keep the peace in an era of climate change.

Small island states, which could disappear beneath rising seas, are pushing the security council to intervene to combat the threat to their existence.

There has been talk, meanwhile, of a new environmental peacekeeping force – green helmets – which could step into conflicts caused by shrinking resources.

The UN secretary general, Ban Ki-Moon, is expected to address the meeting on Wednesday.

So, what do you guys think?

If they are literally changing their helmets, then yeah i gotta say the blue helmets were fugly, and well, they weren't really good for camouflage.

I dont know. I really dont think its that big of a deal of the color of helmets... If they wanna change them, then go ahead and change them.. Makes really no difference.

UN troops are to be distinguished from every other soldier in a theater of operations. Hence the blue helmets.

I know that. I'm just sayin if I were a UN trooper in a hot combat zone i probably wouldn't want to be so distinguishable.

blaze orange would work better or hot pink

A camo'd kevlar wouldn't make any difference, if you weren't conducting proper IMT, anyway. Always remember: good IMT will save your life.

Besides, you say that as if UN troops are actually going to do any fighting.

I don't think the UN has any business having an army.

The peacekeepers are a great idea. Although they may have an unfortunate tendency to exploit the locals, they have a pretty decent success rate in keeping stability. They are a much more appealing option than spending 10 years and thousands of lives trying to fight an insurgency. U.S. policy would better served by using overwhelming conventional force for an initial victory, and then handing it over to the U.N. to deal with the aftermath.
As far as beings the UN's "army", peacekeepers remain part of the host nation military and have no combat power to speak of anyway.

I think they should paint a bullseye on their helmets. Or maybe a picture of a bobo doll.
