Scandal likely to bring down Murdoch empire: Brown advisor

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

Whether or not the owner is an alleged criminal is irrelevant to liberals hatred of fox news.

Whether or not the owner is an actual criminal is irrelevant to rightwingers love of fox news.

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

Wouldn't it just be halarious if George Soros bought FAUXNews? I can just see O'Reilly and Hannity now. Hannity could probably then come out of the closet and do that cooking show he has so longed to host and O'reilly could broadcast topless, in a shower cap, with a soapy loofah mitt.

The popularity of Fox News strongly suggests that there are more than just "right wingers" who are watching.

One of the major problems in the the minds of left wingers is that their world is divided into the simple terms of 'left' and 'right', with nothing in between.

But in fact the middle is where most people reside, and the left just doesn't seem to get it.

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

Has it occurred any of you libs salivating over this that if the worst came to happen then FOX news (a tv station you most likely have never ever watched) would be just sold to someone else? I know that a lo of libs fail to understand the concept that if something makes money you keep it or buy it and if it doesn't make money you get rid of it.

It's only the second post, and you've shattered their dreams.

But those other people aren't scrambling trying to blame this on liberals who hate FoxNews.

And it's truly hilarious to hear that it's the left who doesn't do nuance, when the rightwingers scream "You just want to steal all their money" anytime someone even mentions a tax increase for the wealthy

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

It seems Murdoch Junior misled a parliamentary committee when he denied knowledge of a certain email. A past editor, and past company lawyer have announced that they both remember informing him about it. He could be looking at failing to inform the police of a crime, or since he agreed an out of court settlement with a confidentiality clause involving the email, THAT could well be "perverting the course of justice", with a maximum term of life imprisonment.

Start using the quotes box.

Rupert Murdoch and his son are being called up for questioning by M.P.'s. The UK is about to boot out the biggest American corporate/war propaganda machine in history. The first whistleblower was found dead yesterday. The two highest police officers in the UK have resigned due to Murdoch's corporate payoffs.

Murdochs to face questions in UK parliament | WORLD News

"One of Rupert's most trusted executives Les Hinton has resigned over the scandal, as has former News of the World editor and News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks, who faces police charges.

"He is 80. I think the chances of him passing on the business to his son James are extremely unlikely. We're hearing almost daily shareholders in News Corporation asking for change at the top and that means change of the Murdoch family," said Sinclair."

Wow. I don't feel sorry for them either. What they let happen was disgusting, and they should have known what was going on in the company.

Do you fail to understand that this has little to nothing to do with liberal vs conservative. It has to do with justice and seeing that the most powerful people aren't above it.

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

I don't know. To me this goes beyond libs vs. cons. I know it's hard for some people to see past that line of thinking, but I honestly think everyone should be outraged over this issue. It doesn't matter that it's Rupert Murdoch. The fact that such a major media outlet could be responsible for such unscrupulous acts should piss everyone off, regardless of their party affiliation.

Couldn't agree more. What happened was NOT acceptable. Those journalists should lose everything because they are disgrace to the career.

You must have not seen the original thread title.

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

The original thread title said nothing about libs and reighties
Left wingers generally despise fox news. SO its not hard to guess that it was a lib or left winger that came up with the original OP title "Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)"

I am surprise it wasn't "Sayonara, FAUX "News" (let's hope)"

Most americans generally despise criminals, and it's not hard to guess that there's been criminal behavior here. Only the most hyper-partisans would think their crimes are a left/reight issue

I never said I think their alleged crimes are a left/right issue.

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

I started the thread, I titled it. And the "Sayonara, let's hope" was in reference to FOX being a propaganda outfit, not a partisan comment. They're FAUX news because they lie, not because they're conservative. Walter Cronkite has been spinning in his grave for some time, I'm sure. FOX is not, and has never been, a news station.

James, you make it a partisan issue when you accuse the left of being happy that Fox news may go bye bye.. I don't know if it will or won't and frankly I don't care if it does or doesn't.. I do care about the almost constant stream of lies and misinformation that comes from their network.. Frankly I am suprised so many right wingers give them a pass on that.. I mean seriously.. There was never any death panels in Obama care.. Yet they were constantly on the air talking about it.. So which is it?? Are going to claim that conservatives were to stupid to know the truth or approve of lying to the american people for political gain.. I can flood this forum with video after video of Fox news lying..

I don't want them to disappear.. I just want them to change their slogan from 'fair and balance' to 'Honest and Accurate'.. Bipartisan would also be nice.. No more free air time to republican candidates..

They lie?As there are many reporters and commentators on Fox News, which one of them is the 'liar', and what was that lie.

Don't you realize that when you make these accusations that you should have some proof to support what you say?

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

I've been thinking about this for some time. And in my opinion the whole of the FOX board, including Murdoch, should be publicly humiliated, tortured, and put to death. It is the only proper response to canceling Firefly after like 14 episodes. That was one of the best modern day Sci-Fi shows! I hope they all burn in hell.

I gotta tell ya - I've been a big sci-fi fan all my life... I read the raving reviews and outrage of Firefly being cancelled and watched 6 episodes on Netflix. Mediocre is how I'd describe it. Going from riding horses with 1870 six shooters on an alien planet to interstellar space, could just never get into it and I'm also a Western fan too. Sorry for you they cancelled it but for me, I didn't miss anything.

I don't really know what to tell you. Firefly is one of the (if not THE) best modern sci-fi shows of all time. This is known. It's frickin' Cowboys in space! There was nothing better than that show, and they canceled it just as River was gonna start going bad ass on the bad guys. The story was good, the characters completely engaging and compelling. There was nothing bad about that show.

And if you only watched 6 episodes, you missed the (IMO) best one: Jaynestown, the seventh. And Heart of Gold (my second favorite) which they have a shoot out from a brothel.

I don't know what to tell you. Not liking Firefly is like not liking freedom. If you're not with us, you're against us! HAHAHA. Just kidding, but I'm always surprised when someone claiming to like sci-fi does not like Firefly.

I think you missed the setup, but that's not surprising.

Its not interstellar space, its a big system with many habitable planets/moons.

All were colonized, but many were "marginal", or being terraformed. Central planets were high tech, "frontier" planets less so. There was a civil war around control/exploitation of the frontier worlds.

The beauty of the series was its potential.

They had all the cowboy stories, all the pirate/shipping/smuggling stories plus all the ususal sci fi fare to go through before they ran out of stories.

The chinese slang/swearing was one of my favorite aspects.

Can't have anti-government rebels and saboteurs as heroes in an immediately post 9/11 world though, just wouldn't be prudent. Idiots.

Re: Sayonara, FOX "News" (let's hope)

Actually, FoxNews argued in court that it has a right to lie

Daily Kos: Fox News admits they lie and distort the news, so why so pissy?

No, not from a disreputable website like Daily Kos, please.

If you saw something on Fox News which was untrue you should report it in order to support your claim.

And even if what Kos reported was true, does that substantiate your ludicrous claim "I'm sure. FOX is not, and has never been, a news station".

It is a news station and, in fact, a very good one.

No surprise that the usual suspects like this stuff.
