Boehner abandons goal of $4 trillion debt-reduction package

You are closer than you think. This is not really about honest negotiations. It is about Republicans slicing the throat of America for nothing more than political purposes. This is about Republicans, looking towards 2012, and willing to do anything, no matter how much it hurts the nation, to try and gain an advantage. Don't forget that, while Bush was in office, the debt ceiling was raised 7 times by Republicans, without any questions whatsoever. But a rubber stamp under Bush is now a demand for absolutely everything they want, with absolutely no room for negotiation whatsoever, under Obama. It can be summed up in a single word - Sabotage.

It is just maddening to read this finger pointing and backwards looking exercise. When it comes to deficits size matters. Do you really believe that the country can run deficits of 10% of GDP for another five years? Do we understand that tax hikes on the rich is already written into law. The Bush/Obama cuts expire in 2012 I think and the healthcare law adds another surcharge on wealthy taxpayers of about 4%. So that will bring the top rate to about 45% in 2014.

Let's not even talk about the fact that then senator Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling. How inane is it to keep writing about the number of times republicans raised the debt ceiling. If folks feet are not held to the fire under this debt limit threat when can there be serious discussion about our deficit? The senate ( controlled by democrats) has not generated a budget in nearly three years!

I didn't say "owned" re read for comprehension Joe. And secondly, were you happy with the outcome of '08?

j-mac

I didn't know what pwned was. Your line:

You held that line of crap during the '08 congressional elections as well, and got pwned for it

As for happy? Remember, I prefer divided government, and don't have a problem with republicans on the whole. Bat **** crazy like Bachmann bothers a bit. ;)

I didn't know what pwned was.

Really? I thought you had the ability to type in google same as me....

It basically means "to own" or to be dominated by an opponent or situation, especially by some god-like or computer-like force.

Urban Dictionary: pwned

Alright, the distinction is negligible.

Moving on...

However, you must take into consideration that when you make statements like this one, that I must require that you actually demonstrate that from time to time, and not just say it.

So, pwned means owned. Exactly what did I get wrong?

J, there is a lot I don't comment on. Why? becasue I don't have a problem with it. But when you guys go around being silly, well, it invides me in. ;)

I knw you don't like, but there is a reason why people on your side have won lies of the year recently. The liberal bat **** stuff rarely makes it into the mainstream of liberal thought. Few actually bought into the nonsense that bush was behind 9/11. But the death panel nonsense from your side is often defended by decent peopel like you and CP. Giving nutters cred, well that invides people to speak up against you. And the way you abaondon workers, demonize teachers, and that's the collective you (those representing conservatives here), well, again, that invites comment. :coffeepap

To be fair, Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling because at the time it made sense. With no recession to muddy the waters, the budget should have been balanced wouldn't you agree?

Then why didn't BHO balance the budget when he had the chance? Why should a recession make any difference on whether a budget gets balanced or not?

I'd agree, so why then did the Pelosi/Reid congress fail to even produce a budget then, they still haven't....Don't give me this load....

About as close to any actual words as can be said to such Limbaugh stupidity, assuming he said something that stupid. Is anyone really that stupid? Really?

According to Limbaugh's Mom, Rush tried college but flunked out of everything and gave up. :sun

Good thing he found something he could do. There's more than one way to succeed. I just wish he presented his best side more often and the stupidity less.

Bull**** and facts do not coexist easily. He's doing what he knows best! :sun

Link corrected to my post #106...Re: "white paper"

Objective Voice said:
I posted a link to a NYTimes article discussing the 5 Myths on the debt ceiling. However, that article didn't outline the consequences for everyday Americans if the debt ceiling isn't raised. But this white paper by Thirdway.org explains the very real, very potential consequences of doing nothing or delaying for even one 24-hour period (which incidentally also mirrors the warning given under myth #3). I think everyone should read this paper to get a real, no-politics understand of what's at stake.

No, they don't. But we have a lot on both side of the ilse these days trying to do just that. Hell, they are doing that.

Yes, but is there anyone in that category that has made as much money at bull**** as Rush?
